Open Post: Hosted By The LGBTQ+ Doormat That Repelled Mormon Missionaries

September 7, 2022 / Posted by:

A couple in Indiana accidentally stumbled upon the perfect deterrent for those pesky Mormon missionaries: a rainbow-trimmed doormat that reads “Gayest Place In Town.” The New York Post reports that Jamie Foust and her wife Melissa bought the $10 doormat from Target back in June cuz they thought it was funny. Two months later, their doorbell camera caught two clean-cut Latter-day Saint boys approaching their home, prepared to proselytize. But before they can ring the doorbell, one of the Mormons spots the doormat. He reads the word “Gayest” out loud, and immediately follows this up with a “Nope!” Then they turn on their heels and leave. Why waste their efforts on heathen homosexual homeowners? Ya can’t save ’em all!

Jamie said she was “crying with laughter” when she saw the doorbell footage and joked that the boys probably left because they thought she was “beyond help.” She uploaded it to TikTok with the caption:

My wife and I recently got a new door mat. It was a great investment. It says “gayest place in town” and has the added benefit of keeping religious zealots from knocking on our door to tell us about their god.

The video has since racked up over 7 million views:

Jamie told reporters that she’ll never get rid of Gay Doormat, because she doesn’t like missionaries. In fact, she plans to buy an extra Gay Doormat as back-up, for when her current Gay Doormat gets too old. Hmmm, I like Gay Doormat, but maybe I should just go full-heathen and buy one that says, “Proud Satanist!” Or “In This House, God Is Dead!”
