Johnny Depp Might Make A Surprise Appearance At This Weekend’s MTV VMAs

Last month we learned that Netflix will stream Johnny Depp’s next film, La Favorite. Then, a couple of weeks ago, TMZ reported that he signed a multi-year 7-figure deal with Dior to continue being the face of Sauvage cologne (insert smelly Johnny Depp joke here). Now, TMZ says that the 59-year-old might make a surprise appearance at the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards. And everyone will give Johnny a big standing ovation, because he beat evil Amber Heard… in court! Beat her in court. Johnny’s a wrongfully accused sweetie pie… at least according to the countless recommended anti-Amber videos that somehow randomly showed up on my YouTube homepage.

TMZ reports that VMA production sources say Johnny’s been in talks with award show producers to dress up as the MTV Moonman and then reveal his face sometime during the broadcast, which is this Sunday. Johnny has never won a VMA, despite fronting the legendar(il)y (terrible) band, The Hollywood Vampires, but he has won 5 MTV Movie Awards, including the Generation Award in 2012. That’s MTV’s version of a lifetime achievement award. TMZ says:

Unclear if he’ll also take home some hardware from the show a week from Sunday, but based on what we’ve seenĀ surrounding public opinionĀ … he’s sure to get massive applause.

Then they link to a story about Johnny being swarmed by adoring fans in Paris. People: they’re fucking stupid, all across the globe.

Johnny’s currently in France shooting his new movie. Next spring he’ll be back in Europe (or maybe he’ll never leave) to direct a film for the first time in 25 years; Johnny told The Hollywood Reporter that it’s a movie about Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani. It will be co-produced by Al Pacino. After that, it’s the Hollywood Vampires’ European summer tour! Sorry, woke mob, ya can’t keep a good white/rich/famous man down!
