Gary Busey Is Facing Sexual Assault Charges For Allegedly Getting His Grope On A Horror Movie Conference

I’m quite elderly yet I still found myself wracking my brain trying to remember a time when Gary Busey was famous for anything other than frightening small children, older children, easily rattled teens, young adults, the middle-aged and most senior citizens whose eyesight remains keen with his Academy Award-winning smile (Best Advertisement from the Academy of Corrective Dental Surgery). But CNN reminds me that Gary once received an actual Academy Award nomination for playing Buddy Holly in 1978 before becoming a semi-professional realty TV star. I’m not sure if Gary still remembers how to fake his way through a pasodoble, but whatever Donald Trump taught him on Celebrity Apprentice seems to have stuck because Gary is facing “two counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual contact, one count of criminal attempt/criminal sexual contact and one count of harassment” for allegedly groping three women at the Monster Mania Convention in Cherry Hill, New Jersey over the weekend. I guess Gary just wasn’t a big enough star to get away with it.

Gary, who appeared on season four of Celebrity Apprentice, was booked as a celebrity guest at the horror film convention and I guess he took that job very seriously because I can think of nothing more blood-curdling than seeing Gary in person across the room, let alone close enough to see the whites of the eyeballs he probably has in the palm of his hands. CNN reports:

Actor Gary Busey is facing sex offense charges that allegedly occurred during the annual Monster Mania Convention held at the Doubletree Hotel in Cherry Hill, New Jersey last weekend, according to police.

Cherry Hill Police responded to the hotel for the report of a sex offense. As a result of the investigation, the police department charged Gary Busey, 78, of Malibu, California, with two counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual contact, one count of criminal attempt/criminal sexual contact and one count of harassment.

CNN has reached out to representatives of Busey for comment. It was not immediately known if Busey had an attorney representing him in this matter.

Cherry Hill Police Chief Robert Kempf confirmed to CNN on Saturday evening that the incident involved Busey, who was one of the attendees at the event.

We don’t yet have a lot of details about the alleged assaults but a law firm representing Monster Mania released a statement that said they are “assisting authorities in their investigation into an alleged incident involving attendees and a celebrity guest” and that “immediately upon receiving a complaint from the attendee, the celebrity guest was removed from the convention and instructed not to return. Monster-Mania also encouraged the attendees to contact the police to file a report.” So it sounds to me like Gary was really working the floor. Staggeringly, less than 24-hours later, Gary was spotted working his pole on a park bench in Malibu. The Daily Beast reports:

Gary Busey was caught on tape sitting on a bench with his pants down in a California park and apparently performed an obscene act in broad daylight, just 24 hours after he was charged with groping three women at a horror-movie convention.

The star was said to have pulled his phone out after sitting down on the bench. He was then allegedly seen putting one hand down the front of his pants and looking around to make sure no one was watching before committing a lewd act. Busey smoked a cigar for around 30 minutes afterward, looking out at the ocean before leaving the area, it’s claimed.

And here I though Caitlyn Jenner had promised to remove the riffraff from the streets of Malibu! Sadly, this isn’t Gary’s first time getting caught rummaging for cookies in other people’s jars without permission. It’s just the first time he’s faced consequences, and we have Trump to thank for that. In a 2017 investigation, The Daily Beast reported that Gary had allegedly sexually assaulted a female employee on the set of Celebrity Apprentice and that Trump allegedly laughed it off when multiple staff members asked that Gary be removed from the show.

“We were smoking cigarettes outside, and Busey was standing next to me. And then at one point, he grabbed me firmly between my legs, and ran his hand up my stomach, and grabbed my breasts,” she continued. “I didn’t know what to do. So I made this joke that, ’Oh, I’ve never been sexually harassed by a celebrity before!’ Then he grabbed my hand and put it [over] his penis, and said, like, ‘I’m just getting started, baby.’”

She added, “Then my friend jumped in between [me and Busey] and put his hand on Busey’s chest.”

The news made it all the way up the chain of command, multiple sources told The Daily Beast, and made its way to Trump’s ear. The real-estate mogul ultimately gave Busey little more than a chuckle and a soft slap on the wrist. (Busey was allowed to remain on the show for the duration of the season—until he was “fired” and came in sixth place.)

She, along with her Apprentice colleagues, spoke on the condition of anonymity due to restrictive non-disclosure agreements signed by those involved with the NBC series’s production.

Call me a fool and a wide-eyed optimist but wouldn’t it be great if Trump winds up rebooting Celebrity Apprentice as Celebrity Prison Bitch starring him and all his low-life cohorts as a cable access show you can only get if you have a rabbit ear antennae for your TV as part of his prison work program? Gary would be a great candidate!
