Michelle Branch Was Arrested For Domestic Assault After Accusing Her Husband Patrick Carney Of Cheating On Her

Michelle Branch hasn’t really been in the spotlight since the early aughts, when you couldn’t flip to any radio station without hearing her scream-singing her smash, Everywhere. These days, you might be lucky to hear one of her handful of moody singles in the grocery store while perusing for the perfect endive. She’s kept a relatively low profile since then, probably happy to count her money and go out in public without being recognized–that is, up until the last 24 hours. TMZ reports that Michelle believes that her husband of three years, Patrick Carney (who drums for The Black Keys), has been cheating on her with his manager, Haley McDonald. So, she put him on blast on Twitter and then gave a statement confirming their split. But it didn’t end there. Michelle was later arrested for allegedly slapping Patrick early yesterday morning.

It all started with Michelle’s tweet accusing Patrick of cheating on her. Michelle does not play, so she even named the alleged mistress and included her place of employment, before eventually deleting the tweet.

She then went right to TMZ to let everyone know that she’s devastated for herself and their two small children (Michelle also has a child from her previous marriage to musician, Teddy Landau) and that she and Patrick are done, though divorce papers haven’t yet been filed.

Michelle Branch is calling it quits with her husband, Patrick Carney, 3 years after the couple tied the knot.

The singer tells TMZ, “To say that I am totally devastated doesn’t even come close to describing how I feel for myself and for my family. The rug has been completely pulled from underneath me and now I must figure out how to move forward. With such small children, I ask for privacy and kindness.”

It doesn’t appear she’s filed divorce docs at this time … but if her statement is any indication, you can assume the papers will be coming soon.

But then things escalated further. TMZ reported today that Michelle was arrested for domestic assault against Patrick, presumably livid about his wandering dick.

Michelle Branch was arrested for allegedly slapping her estranged husband, Patrick Carney, in the face … this in the wake of her claim he cheated on her.

According to docs out of Nashville, obtained by TMZ, on Thursday at around 2 AM police were called to their home for a possible domestic disturbance. Michelle admitted she had slapped Patrick in the face “one to two times,” according to court docs.

Patrick did not have any visible injuries and Michelle was taken into custody. Her bail was set at $1,000 … and it appears she was released from custody early because she’s breastfeeding the couple’s 6-month-old.

Here’s her mugshot:

Interestingly, Justin Bieber called for Patrick to get slapped around almost a decade ago for comments he made about Justin’s music. Violence is never the answer, but maybe it’s time to stop pissing people off, Pat.

I’m going to listen to Goodbye to You on repeat and pour one out for Michelle’s relationship (that I didn’t even know about until hearing about its demise). Hopefully, this is as far as this disappointing mess goes, but I do look forward to Michelle’s next single that’s guaranteed to slap (too soon?): Just Found Out My Husband Cheated on Me With His Manager Haley McDonald From Full Stop Management.
