When Lori Harvey canceled her subscription to Michael B. Jordan’s love back in June, I knew it wouldn’t be long before we heard from her again, yet I didn’t think it would be to give out dating advice. Yes, you read that right; Lori Harvey is giving out dating advice. But hey, I think many would rather take dating advice from Lori Harvey than her dad Steve Harvey. Lori recently sat down with long-time friend Teyana Taylor during an episode of her YouTube series Bumble Presents Luv2SeeIt With Teyana Taylor to chat about the ups and downs of her dating life. But the real comedy comes in when Lori begins to discuss her “red flags.”
According to E! News Lori carved out some time from her busy schedule of being beautiful and single to take a ride on Teyana’s big yellow bus (and that’s not a euphemism for anything else, just so you know) for a conversation about dating. Before MBJ, Lori dated Future, Trey Songz, Dutch footballer Memphis Depay, Diddy, and Diddy’s son Justin Combs. At one point during the interview, Teyana asked Lori what her red flags were when it came to relationships, and instead of answering honestly with the word “commitment“, she said this:
“If you are too close to your exes, that’s a red flag,” she said. “Cordial? OK.”
However, Lori noted that having bad blood with an ex is also a red flag itself. “I don’t want y’all to have beef either,” she continued, “because that gets messy.”
As for a green flag she does look for, Lori shared she appreciates “transparency” in a partner. After all, it admittedly took her a while to learn how to openly communicate in a relationship. “I was actually a horrible communicator,” she confessed. “I just didn’t realize that it was that bad, but I learned. It’s something that I’ve been actively working on.”
Lori, who is only 25, says that she almost got married at an even younger age but realized she didn’t know what she wanted so she moved on from that relationship, and now she knows what she wants. And she has no problem pulling the cord on any relationship once she realizes it no longer serves her in her ripe old age.
“I didn’t really know myself,” recalled Lori, who was once engaged to soccer player Memphis Depay. “I just felt like I hadn’t experienced life, so at that point I was like, ‘OK, I’m just going to date on my terms.'”
She added, “How ever I want to move or whatever I want to do, I’m gonna do it. And if it’s no longer serving me, I move on.”
I admire Lori’s new outlook on dating, but we all know it won’t last. Especially with the holidays coming up. You know she likes the finer things in life and I doubt she’ll miss her opportunity to cash in on as many Christmas and Valentine’s Day gifts she can get.
