Iggy Azalea Announced That She’s Returning To Music Just One Year After Announcing That She Was Leaving Music
Last year after dropping her album, The End of An Era, rapper/prolific Twitter troll/controversial shit-stirrer Iggy Azalea told everyone that she was going to take her puzzling, contrived drawl and go home. But, lucky for her several fans and unlucky for her haters–like rappers Bhad Bhabie and her former mentor, T.I.—Billboard reported that she’s had a change of heart and decided that her era actually didn’t end–she’s tagging herself back in just one year later and anyone who doesn’t like it can go “cry about it.”
Iggy took to Twitter to let everyone know that although she said she was done last year due to “negative energy,” it was still there even when she wasn’t making music, so why stop now? via Billboard:
Consider Iggy Azalea officially out of retirement. The rapper took to Twitter to announce her re-entry to the music industry on Monday (Aug. 8).
“A year ago I was willing to walk away from music because I was tired of the negative energy it attracted,” she tweeted. “But what I’ve learned is that even when I’m minding my business, y’all gonna be negative AND nosey. So if I can’t have peace, neither can you. I’m coming back. Cry about it.”
And here’s the tweet:

Just last year she said she was stepping away to work on other things she was more excited about, which in that whole year off turned out to be a makeup collection, playing an NBA halftime show, and raising her son.
In the interim, Azalea created a makeup collection with BH Cosmetics inspired by the early 2000s called Totally Plastic, and has focused on raising Onyx, her 2-year-old son with ex-boyfriend Playboi Carti.
Last October, she also headlined the halftime show for the New York Knicks’ opening home game at Madison Square Garden backed by the Knicks City Dancers, an experience she confessed she’d “never been so scared in my life” over.
And here’s her “fuck this job, I quit” tweets from last year:
Shifting my energy and focus to what I’m most excited about is what is right for me and I hope you’ll continue to support whatever creative projects I’m out here doing!
I really love this album and I just want my fans to enjoy this with me. I hope I see so many of you on tour!

A year off sounds great until you realize you still need to pay for all of those wigs, butt stuffins, and past due bills, but Tummy Tea and lip gloss just ain’t gonna cut it. Fortunately for her, she still must have a record label at the moment, so unfortunately for us, new music from her will be coming down the pike. But don’t call it a comeback–because she never really went anywhere.
