Tom Cruise Is Preparing To Work On A Movie Musical

I knew it would only be a matter of time before Tom Cruise decided to shift his career into a different arena, but I never guessed he might do some kind of genre mash-up. Most of us know him for his action films because the man will leap and prance across obstacles like the proudest gazelle, as Gene Kelly smiles down upon him from that great dance floor in the sky. And now, with the help of producer Christopher McQuarrie Tom will have an opportunity to introduce the world to his alter ego Tommy Two-Step as he prepares to star in a few upcoming projects, including a musical.

According to Deadline, Tom is about to be booked and busy with a total of three upcoming films, all with different premises. Of course, after milking the box office cash cow Top Gun: Maverick, Tom knew he needed to capitalize on the extra attention he’s receiving and he’s an alien robot who doesn’t really rest, so he’s got new movies coming after wrapping up Mission: Impossible 8 (Mission: Impossible 7 is coming out next year). Tom is working on a musical and that makes sense since he’s been doing the “Scientology is beautiful” shuffle for eons. It’s not his first movie musical since he was in Rock of Ages. But he’s also dusting off his bear daddy costume from Tropic Thunder for a movie based on his surprise cameo character Les Grossman. And if there’s a way for these two projects to be combined into one please give Tom the Oscar he has been so desperately chasing for the past forty years.

They are still in the thick of Mission: Impossible 8 — Cruise was recently photographed in the UK’s Lake District practicing what appears to be his next death defying stunt, something called‘speed flying’ — sources said that Cruise and McQuarrie are hatching three new film projects. One is an original song and dance-style musical they’ll craft as a star vehicle for Cruise. They are also setting up another original action film with franchise potential, and they are also fixated on Les Grossman. The latter is the gruff, dance-happy studio executive Cruise played in cameo for Tropic Thunder. It’s unclear if they will create a whole movie around Grossman, or borrow him for inclusion in either of the other vehicles.

Here’s Tom gearing up for the cover of AARP magazine in England while practicing his speed flying for MI:8

Tom also has another unnamed project in the works with McQuarrie, NASA, Elon Musk’s SpaceX, and director Doug Liman that’s set to be shot in outer space. But once again, when is Tom going to “sing” at the tops of his lungs while performing a different kind of high kick before twerking into a death drop in a movie musical? Those cha-cha heels are about to be put to work!
