John Legend Admits He And Kanye West Are Not As Close Anymore Because Of Politics

John Legend has a lot to celebrate these days after announcing he’s expecting a new baby friend with Chrissy Tiegen. And while we’re on the subject of babies, John admits that he’s no longer close friends with one of the biggest man babies in the world Kanye West. The two of them used to be pretty tight, but unfortunately, after Kanye made the horrible life choice of supporting walking spoiled orange Donald Trump during his 2016 run for president John admits things went downhill from there. And the downfall accelerated even faster after Kanye’s own self-destructive run for POTUS.

Complex reports during an interview with David Axelrod on the podcast The Axe Files, John was asked about the current state of his relationship with Kanye. He admitted that the two of them may have started out as ordinary people, but once Kanye started backing Trump John started the process of backing away.

At around the 22:30-minute mark, the host asks Legend how Kanye’s political positions have affected their nearly 20-year relationship.

“Well, you know, we aren’t friends as much as we used to be because I honestly think because we publicly disagreed on his running for office, his supporting [President Donald] Trump,” Legend revealed. “I think it became too much for us to sustain our friendship, honestly.”

You see, nothing good comes from anything affiliated with Donald Trump, and unfortunately, Kanye was swept up into the dark magic of whatever mind-altering drugs Trump sprays his Chia-Wig with. But as we all know, Kanye has been struggling with mental health issues that he still currently battles with. Well, after Kanye decided to make his own ill-advised run for the White House, John knew he couldn’t support that foolishness, which ultimately meant they couldn’t be friends anymore. When Axelrod pushed further to see if perhaps Kanye is a different person behind closed doors John admitted that Kanye is the same person in public and in private, which is a very scary thought.

“I think he’s been very open with who he is and his struggles with mental health. And he’s very real, honestly …” he explained. “Like he’s been pretty upfront with his opinions, his struggles, all the things that he’s dealing with. And I think what you see with him is pretty much what you get. I don’t feel like he’s a whole separate person in private than he is in public. I think you’re pretty much seeing the real Kanye publicly.”

I’m thinking the only way Kanye can make this right is by knocking on John’s door and belting out All Of Me at the top of his lungs to mend their friendship. They’ll either re-connect, or John will take out a restraining order. Either way, it’s on brand for Kanye.
