Rebekah Vardy Lost Her “Wagatha Christie” Libel Case Against Coleen Rooney

July 29, 2022 / Posted by:

Back in the pre-pandemic days of 2019, Coleen Rooney (right), wife of former footballer and manager Wayne Rooney, dropped an ultra ESCANDALO nugget (which if you’re British, you probably pronounce as ESCANDAL-OY!) when said that she had conducted an investigative sting operation to find out who was leaking stories from her private Instagram to The Sun. After successfully channeling the investigative energy of Sherlock Holmes, Jessica Fletcher, Miss Fisher, Poirot, and Detective La Toya, Coleen discovered that the dirty schemer was none other than fellow WAG….. REBEKAH VARDY! Rebekah (left), who is married to footballer Jamie Vardy, swore she was innocent and filed a libel suit against Coleen in 2020. Rebekah wanted to clear her good name and wipe the stank of betrayal off of her reputation. Well, the trial happened in May and did the opposite of cleansing Rebekah’s reputation. The judge ruled against Rebekah and declared her an “untrustworthy witness” who most likely destroyed more incriminating evidence.

This drama all started when Coleen Rooney noticed that Stories she only posted on her private Instagram were published by The Sun. Coleen spent a while trying to figure out which of her “friends” was a two-faced piece of betraying trash! Eventually, she settled on one suspect and came up with a plan to see if that suspect was guilty or not. On her private Instagram, she blocked everyone from seeing her Stories except for the suspect. During the next five months, Coleen posted fake Instagram Stories, like how she and Wayne had a gender reveal party in Mexico and that she was planning to return to TV. The fake stories ended up in The Sun. Coleen then dramatically revealed the name of the one person who was allowed to see those fake Instagram Stories.

“It’s……..Rebekah Vardy’s account.”

Rebekah, who was pregnant at the time, declared her innocence and claimed that several people had access to her Instagram account. Rebekah was shocked at how her friend Coleen dragged her like that. Rebekah later said that the stress from the SCANDAL caused her to go to the hospital three times. And in 2020, Rebekah dropped a libel lawsuit in Coleen’s lap and in her lawsuit, claimed that Coleen regularly leaked stuff about herself to The Sun. The trial started on May 10, 2022 and lasted for 9 days.

During the trial, Coleen’s lawyers presented messages between Rebekah and her agent Caroline Watt. The messages included Rebekah calling Coleen a “nasty bitch” (Rebekah denied this), Rebekah complaining that The Sun wasn’t paying for photos, and Rebekah calling Coleen a “cunt” for unfollowing her on Instagram, writing, “What a cunt, I’m going to message her…. that cunt needs to get over herself.” But one of the peak HAHA moments of the trial was when Coleen’s lawyer told the court that just days after they requested to check Rebekah and Caroline’s phones for possibly incriminating WhatsApp messages, they learned that Caroline accidentally dropped her phone into the sea after a wave hit the boat she was in. Oh how I wish that Coleen’s lawyers responded to that by calling their next witness: an aquarium containing a fish clutching onto Caroline’s lost phone while throwing “got you, bitch” eyes at Rebekah. Rebekah’s side of her WhatsApp conversation with Caroline also wasn’t available to see. Rebekah burped up some excuse about how she believed the messages were lost after changing phones but she can’t confirm she changed phones.

And the dick of Katie Price’s first husband Peter Andre was brought up by Coleen’s lawyers to prove that Rebekah doesn’t care about people’s privacy. In a 2004 interview with News of the World, Rebekah, who dated Peter, said that he had “the smallest trouser equipment I’ve ever seen” and was “hung like a small chipolata.

After all that, the judge in the case, Mrs Justice Steyn, announced her decision today and ruled against Rebekah. Mrs Justice Steyn went on to state that Rebekah and Caroline probably worked together to leak stories about Coleen to The Sun. Like everyone else, the judge also shit on the ridiculous claim that Caroline accidentally dropped her phone into the sea. via The Guardian:

The judge concluded that “significant parts” of Vardy’s evidence were not credible and that there were many occasions when her evidence “was manifestly inconsistent with the contemporaneous documentary evidence, evasive or implausible”.

She also said that Vardy and her agent Caroline Watt were likely to have deliberately destroyed potentially damning evidence. WhatsApp messages on Watt’s phone were lost after the device was dropped off the side of a boat in the North Sea, while Vardy’s own copy of the same messages was lost in the process of backing them up.

The judge concluded: “It is likely that Ms Vardy deliberately deleted her WhatsApp chat with Ms Watt, and that Ms Watt deliberately dropped her phone in the sea.”

She also found it was likely Vardy “knew of, condoned and was actively engaged” in the process of Watt leaking stories about Rooney to the Sun.

Although Rooney’s defence succeeded on the matter of truth – after convincing the judge that the claim against Vardy was likely to be true – she failed on her public interest defence.

This was, in part, because Rooney failed to follow standard journalistic practice by going to Vardy for comment before publishing the accusation.

Detective Coleen of The No. 1 WAG’s Detective Agency declared victory in a statement but said that the trial was a waste of everyone’s time and money.

She said: “It was not a case I ever sought or wanted. I never believed it should have gone to court at such expense in times of hardship for so many people when the money could have been far better spent helping others.

“Both before and after my social media posts in October 2019, I made every effort to avoid the need for such a drawn-out and public court case.

“All my attempts to do so were knocked back by Mrs Vardy.”

So that’s that…. until Detective Coleen’s next case.

All of this is being turned into a docudrama, and I’m sure a movie or scripted series isn’t far behind. But, I personally, don’t want that. I want this to be the main plot of the reboot of Footballer Wives. Because the only thoughts about this I need are the thoughts of Tanya Turner!
