Honey Boo Boo Says She’s Undergoing Weight Loss Surgery With Her Boyfriend

Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson is following in Mama June’s footsteps and ~~being a fucking unforgivable human being~~ getting weight loss surgery. TMZ reports 16-year-old Alana plans to get a suture sculpt endoscopic sleeve in late August, after her 17th birthday. Her boyfriend/not fiancé of over a year, 21-year-old Dralin Carswell (age of consent in Georgia is 16, FYI), will get the surgery too. How… romantic?

This kind of surgery typically costs around $13,000. Honey Boo Boo is going to weight loss doctor Steven Batash in Queens, New York. Since Honey Boo Boo is still a minor, a parent or guardian needs to sign off on the procedure. Luckily for Honey Boo Boo, Mama June officially lost custody of her daughter last month. And they say angels aren’t real! Her new guardian, older sister Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon, 22, has given her the OK to get the surgery.

Alana’s manager, Gina Rodriguez (not Jane the Virgin, although what a twist that would be!) tells TMZ that Honey Boo Boo currently weighs 275 pounds and wants to get down to 150. Apparently, she’s tried diets and exercise over the past year, “but hasn’t gotten the results she hoped she would.” She worries that the weight she’s put on is genetic and sees weight loss surgery as her only hope. Mama June got a gastric sleeve procedure back in 2015, going from 460 pounds to 150. Last year, the 42-year-old (!!!) revealed she gained about 100 pounds back.

Welp, good luck to Honey Boo Boo. She’s got some big changes ahead of her. I’m no expert, but methinks chicken nuggets and ketchup n’ butter sketti aren’t exactly post-weight loss surgery-friendly.
