Princess Eugenie Has Moved To Portugal To Reportedly Escape The Drama Surrounding Her Family

If my dad was Prince Andrew, I’d be researching real estate in the North Pole. Princess Eugenie isn’t going to such drastic lengths to avoid accidentally bumping into her dad at the nest family function or her local Pizza Express. She’s just moved her family to Portugal for a bit. But, according to one source, she’s maybe looking to make it a long-term thing, in an attempt to put some space between herself and the more toxic elements of her famous family.

Princess Eugenie is the second child of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, and she’s been married to aspiring MENSA member/scandalous yacht passenger Jack Brooksbank since October 2018. Eugenie and Jack share one child, one-year-old August Philip Hawke Brooksbank. A few years ago, Eugenie and Jack moved into Frogmore Cottage after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle moved out (and moved to Montecito, CA). They didn’t last long in Frogmore, and moved out after a couple of weeks. I’m sure some of Eugenie’s royal relatives would have loved to have been able to swing by for tea at whatever place her Granny permitted her to live in, but now that’s going to involve a train trip or a chartered plane (British taxpayers, brace yourselves). According to a source who spoke with the Australian new outlet New Idea, Eugenie, Jack, and August packed up their things and are currently living in the land of Piri Piri chicken and those delicious egg tarts. And it’s not because of the chicken or the tarts.

Princess Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, are escaping to the warmer climes of Portugal, but sources confirm it’s not just a sunny seascape they’re after.

“Eugenie wants to focus on August and – hopefully – having another baby. With all the stresses of lawsuits and the gloom that’s come over the family as the Queen’s health continues to waver, she wants to focus on her new family – and moving to Portugal is the right thing for them.”

I watch Great British Bake-Off, so I know that Portugal is a popular spot for holiday, and it is holiday time right now. Eugenie and Jack are reportedly living in a luxury residence at the CostaTerra Golf and Ocean Club, which sounds very vacation-y. And New Idea claims Eugenie and Jack will divide their time between the UK and their new place in Portugal, thanks to a marketing and sales job Jack scored at the resort. But according to that source, it sounds like Eugenie would rather be in Portugal than in the UK, and yes, it has a whole lot to do with her dad.

“Eugenie needs this,” adds the insider. “She’s really had a tough time with all the problems back home, but seeing her father systematically turned into a disgraced walking punchline has devastated her. Eugenie needs some space from it all and can’t wait to get settled into their new home. She knows nothing is forever, but in Portugal, she can enjoy a few years of a stable, somewhat ‘normal’ life without being too close to all the drama. She just wants to focus on being a great mum.”

But will Eugenie and Jack get homesick for the UK and her famous family? Um, well…

“They’re done with all the dramas going on in Buckingham Palace right now,” says an insider.

Drama? What drama? Whatever could you mean, anonymous source? Could that be a reference to Buckingham Palace burying the results of Meghan Markle’s bullying investigation? Her older cousins’ messy relationship? Uncle Charles and his numerous shady money transfers? Her dad’s horrifying sexual assault lawsuit that he settled, and his subsequent public shunning by the royal family? Maybe it’s the fraud case that she and her older sister Princess Beatrice were dragged into involving their father and mother? Or who knows, maybe it’s not even that dramatic. The truth could be that Eugenie didn’t like that Buckingham Palace switched over from Charmin Ultra Strong to some scratchy recycled 2-ply, and she decided to get out of that hell hole before an even more awful fate befell her and her family, like the appearance of cherry-scented pink hand soap.
