Nicki Minaj’s Husband Kenneth Petty Has Been Given 1 Year Of House Arrest For Failing To Register As A Sex Offender

It’s no secret that Nicki Minaj’s husband Kenneth “Zoo” Petty has a, for lack of a better term, unsavory character biography. Okay fine, let’s cut right to the apple core – the man was once convicted of first-degree attempted rape and second-degree assault when he was a teen, and later pleaded guilty to manslaughter as an adult (those would be two separate incidents). Kenneth’s past has followed him around, literally. He registered as a sex offender in the state of New York, where he lived and where the assault took place back in 1994. But when he moved to Los Angeles with Nicki, his wife of a little less than three years, he failed to register as a sex offender in his new home state. California decided to punish Kenneth for his lack of accountability, and it’s entirely appropriate that his nickname is Zoo, because Kenneth is about to spend the next 12 months isolated in a climate-controlled human habitat.
Last year, Kenneth sued the state of New York, saying he didn’t want to be on the sex offender registry anymore. But it doesn’t really work like that. Just because you don’t want to be registered as a sex offender doesn’t mean the state will go, “Oh, okay! Our bad! Let’s just grab an eraser and make your name disappear“. The state of California wanted his name on that registry, which is something he finally ended up doing in 2020. It was too little too late, and California came after Kenneth for failing to register when he moved from New York to Los Angeles. Kenneth pleaded guilty to that back in September 2021, and his sentencing recently happened. The US Attorney’s Office recommended Kenneth get 15 years in prison and 5 years probation. Kenneth’s wrist might be stinging just a little today because he was slapped with a much more lenient sentence. via TMZ:
Nicki Minaj’s husband Kenneth Petty will be doing time for failing to register as a sex offender in California, but much to the feds’ dismay – he’ll be doing that time in the mansion where he and Nicki live. A federal judge sentenced the 44-year-old on Wednesday, giving him 1 year of home detention, 3 years probation and a $55,000 fine.
When Kenneth originally pleaded guilty, the US Attorney’s Office tried to argue that home detention wasn’t exactly a punishment, since Kenneth and Nicki live in a multi-million dollar mansion in Calabasas, California. After the news broke about Kenneth’s home prison situation, Nicki Instagrammed a few pictures of their family enjoying the peace and tranquility of that fancy-ass house.
Obviously, Kenneth being away from the general public is great news for pretty much everyone. Well, not everyone. Think of the poor nannies who take care of Nicki’s toddler. Not only do they have to deal with the sounds of Cocomelon on a loop, but they’ll now also have to deal with seeing Kenneth Petty every day. That has to be enough for a workers’ comp claim.
