Hayden Panettiere’s Ex, Brian Hickerson, Says That They’re Done For Good

Hayden Panettiere, of Nashville and “partying-with-Paris-Hilton-as-a-wee-child so we kind of saw all of this coming” fame, just revealed in an interview with People that after a long battle with opioid and alcohol addiction, she’s received treatment and is thankful to have another chance to get her life and career back in order. In the past, she’s also toiled with postpartum depression after having her daughter (who’s now 7 and lives in Ukraine with her father) and has a storied history of being in toxic, abusive relationships. Speaking of toxic and abusive relationships, enter Hayden’s on-again/off-again partner in shambles since 2018, real estate agent/actor/mess Brian Hickerson, who was seen out and about by a pap who asked him about the current state of his and Hayden’s relationship. Instead of telling them to kick rocks, he stuck around for a minute to drink up some of that spotlight and let everyone know that he and Hayden are done for real this time (though we’ve heard this before), but he wishes her well.

According to Page Six, when People asked Hayden about ever getting back with Brian, she gave a diplomatic answer that gave “never say never” vibes.

Panettiere addressed reconnecting with Hickerson after the drama unfolded, telling People in the new interview, “None of it is OK, and I want to make sure that everybody knows that. But I am open to people who are willing to get help and make amends.”

But Brian was running errands in LA yesterday when a pap caught up with him right on the heels of Hayden’s interview, and he was a skosh more decisive about their fate.

Hickerson was asked by a paparazzo how he and Panettiere were doing, to which he responded, “Just, ya know, friends.” And when he was more directly asked if they were still together, he said, “No, absolutely not.”

Hickerson, who is on probation over alleged domestic violence incidents involving Panettiere, added that there was no way the exes were ever going to reconcile and said he is “looking forward to new chapters.”

Brian’s new chapters come after a stint in treatment and hopefully will involve less jail and punching people.

“I can’t really talk about it but it’s over and done with. Went to treatment. Got help,” he said, detailing that his treatment is “absolutely” working and that he feels good.

Brian gave an awkward smile throughout that little pap talk and it made me wonder if he was trying so, so hard not to break out in Taylor Swift’s We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together, when asked about Hayden’s career getting back on track, he seemed optimistic.

And as for how Hickerson feels about Panettiere getting back to her career in Hollywood, he said, “I’m excited to see the next opportunities for her. She’s out there, ya know, Scream 6, so…I think everybody [would] like to see it.”

Hopefully, he really meant it when he said they’re absolutely done because I’m sure the friends who’ve said that this relationship was doomed from the beginning are tired of having to use concealer on the bruises and redness every time they instinctively smack their own forehead when Hayden/Brian headline pops up.
