Mayim Bialik Talks About Being Compared To Fellow “Jeopardy!” Host Ken Jennings

After beloved Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek passed away in 2020 the world patiently waited for someone to properly fill his shoes. What ensued afterward was a multitude of folks who desperately wanted to become the next Alex (they could never) by hosting the show. Some tried and failed (yes, YOU Aaron Rodgers) but eventually, the show temporarily settled on legendary multimillionaire contestant Ken Jennings and legendary 90’s bucket hat dancer Mayim Bialik. Mayim was named a permanent guest co-host while Ken Jennings is temporarily filling in after Mike Richards was dropped. Jeopardy! is expected to name its permanent hosts any day now, but in the meantime, Mayim has talked about how some viewers like her as much as she likes musical theater.

Yahoo! reports that Mayim recently sat down with Justin Long during an episode of her podcast Mayim Bialik’s Breakdown. Apparently, whenever they encounter anyone familiar with their work, those folks have no problems saying whatever’s on their minds. Especially in regard to Ken and Mayim’s shared Jeopardy! co-hosting duties.

According to (Long), he and his family are “big” Jeopardy! fans. Without hesitating, Justin took the opportunity to ask Mayim if she ever heard that she was favored over Jeopardy! legend Ken Jennings, who cohosts with her. “Sometimes [and] sometimes I get ‘We don’t prefer you to Ken,’” she said.

It was then that Justin made an observation about how uniquely Hollywood celebrities are treated. “Isn’t that wild — well, it’s the only profession that I can think of — where people will tell you deeply insulting things but with a big smile?” Justin said.

Mayim and Justin took it a step further by both agreeing that people also have no problems criticizing their looks as well.

“[People will tell you] exactly how they feel,” Mayim responded. “Like ‘I saw you in magazine. I was very confused. You looked pretty.’ I get that a lot.”

“Oh, jeez … This sounds like I’m bragging but,” Justin started. “You’re better looking in person?!” Mayim ended his sentence. “Yes, that’s a tough one ‘cause then you think ‘Well, what do I care what you like? That means to millions of other people I’m worse looking,” Justin concluded.

Here’s the clip:

People are really taking time out of their lives to tell Blossom that she’s prettier in magazines? There are so many other things to criticize her for. Like her anti-vaxx past or the fact that she never acknowledged that her big breakout sitcom Blossom really should’ve been called SIX after the true star of the show!
