Lori Loughlin Showed Up On A Red Carpet For The First Time Since The College Admissions Scandal

Lori Loughlin and her smarmy husband Mossimo Giannulli (along with Felicity Huffman) dominated headlines for a while after their involvement in the Operation Varsity Blues college admissions scandal was uncovered, their case progressed, and they served their subsequent time in the clink. During their downfall, Lori took every opportunity to show the public that she’s whiny, entitled, and oblivious, which is probably why Aunt Becky on Full House/Fuller House was her defining role. You would think that someone with notoriety and more money than sense who tried and very publicly failed to pull off a scam so privileged that it basically united a large portion of the country in muttering “aw hell naw” would just cry into their stacks of cash and go away forever, but not Lori–she’s a persistent “eternal optimist,” so she recently stepped out to grace her first red carpet since the college admissions scandal.

On Saturday, 57-year-old Lori showed up at the DesignCare 2022 Gala to benefit the HollyRod Foundation in LA. The foundation was started by actress Holly Robinson Peete and her husband,  NFL alum Rodney Peete, and aims to help the families of people who’ve received autism or Parkinson’s Disease diagnoses. According to People:

Loughlin’s presence at the gala marked her first red carpet appearance after she and husband Mossimo Giannulli were both arrested in March 2019 for their involvement in the college admissions scandal organized by Rick Singer.

The longtime couple pleaded guilty in May 2020 to paying $500,000 to falsely designate daughters Olivia Jade Giannulli and Isabella Rose Giannulli as recruits to the University of Southern California crew team, even though neither ever participated in the sport.

Loughlin received two months in jail, a $150,000 fine, and 150 hours of community service, while Giannulli, 59, was sentenced to five months in jail, a $250,000 fine, and 250 hours of community service.

But now a skosh of time has passed and they’re free to be as self-unaware as they’ve always been and strut a carpet, not an ankle monitor in sight!

Since becoming an ex-con, Lori has made attempts to salvage her image, like being sure to get papped performing her court-ordered community service and paying for two random college students’ educations, and “downsizing” to a humble $9.5 million abode (but then purchasing a $13 million vacation home–come on, poors, it’s called “self-care“). Hopefully, she graced The HollyRod Foundation with a fat-ass check while at this event, but let’s be real, she probably just wanted to be seen because as the year winds on and the holiday season approaches, it’s almost guaranteed that she has an excruciatingly cringe Hallmark Channel Christmas movie coming down the pike. Unless Lori has expanded her range to showcase the soap-carving skills or toilet-wine fermenting methods she learned while incarcerated and it’s called “Christmas Carols in the Clink” or “Holly Jolly Jail,” I’ll pass.

Here’s more of Lori at the event:
