Todd And Julie Chrisley Of “Chrisley Knows Best” Found Guilty Of Fraud

Now that The Depp/Heard trial is over, the country’s courts have their resources back to be able to pinch other celebs who wanna act up, and Todd and Julie Chrisley were next in line on the docket. Back in 2019, the reality TV couple was charged with committing a buttload (“oh, behave, you!” blushed Todd) of financial crimes spanning back years. Yesterday, they were found guilty of trying to scheme banks out of $30 million in loans and federal tax crimes and could now face up to 30 years in prison.

According to People, a federal jury found 53-year-old Todd (a self-described “real estate tycoon”) and 49-year-old Julie, from the reality shows Chrisley Knows Best and Growing Up Chrisley, guilty of all of the crimes alleged at their three-week trial: conspiracy to commit bank fraud, conspiracy to defraud the United States, and tax fraud. Julie got an added conviction of wire fraud. Their legal team said they have the sads about getting caught, which was good to assert–since neither Todd’s nor Julie’s faces move enough for us to know what emotions they’re feeling at any given time. They plan to appeal the verdict:

“Both Chrisleys are devastated and disappointed with the verdict and will be pursuing an appeal. Julie and Todd are so grateful for the love and support shown by their family, friends and fans. They both remain strong in their faith and will continue the ‘fight’ until they are vindicated.  They have their priorities in order and are currently concentrating on the welfare of their children and Todd’s mother, Elizabeth Faye Chrisley.”

Their family accountant, Peter Tarantino, was also found guilty of conspiracy to defraud the United States and willfully filing false tax returns. It seemed pretty obvious that they had to have professional help to orchestrate their fuckery, because if you’ve heard anyone in that family talk or have read about any of Todd’s other foiled plots (see: Todd attempting to hide his affair with a former business partner who ended up testifying against Todd in this case to gain immunity from prosecution, or when Todd/his dopey son tried to extort his own daughter/his son’s sister with her sex tape), it’d be clear that they Don’t Know Best when it comes to executing intricate plans. People continued:

The reality stars were accused of creating false documents to secure $30 million in bank loans in order to foot the bill for their expensive lifestyles. They then filed for bankruptcy to avoid paying the more than $20 million they owed…prosecutors said the Chrisleys intentionally “swindled” smaller banks to rack up the $30 million bill between 2007 and 2012, two years before their reality show debuted on USA in 2014…prosecutors sought to prove that the couple lied about the millions they brought in from Chrisley Knows Best, along with $500,000 in back taxes that Todd owed for 2009. They were accused of launching a shell company, 7C’s Productions, to put in Julie’s name to prevent the IRS from seizing the half-million owed from 2009.

The ninth season of Chrisley Knows Best (which, No One Knew Was Still on the Air) is set to return on June 23. The show was already renewed for a tenth season, so “Chrisleys in the Clink” could very well be their next drop. CNN says that the Chrisleys’ sentencing is set for October 6, which gives Todd plenty of time to stock up on black & white striped and orange Gucci jumpsuits and La Mer face creams to take to prison to preserve that puffy wax visage in case he doesn’t have access to his (suspected) plastic surgeon and needles full of filler for a while.
