Mo’Nique Called Out D.L. Hughley Over Alleged Contract Dispute

You know, to be regarded as one of the funniest women in comedy Mo’Nique surely doesn’t like to laugh as much as she should. But then again I would also be pissed most of the time if I were involved in more celebrity beefs than most rappers will ever see in their lifetime. Luckily, Mo’ has made amends with the people who have wronged her in the past and she’s seemingly on the verge of making a comeback. Until now. Because she’s recently caught fellow comedian D.L. Hughley in her crosshairs after claiming he refused to share a stage with her once discovering she would be the headliner. And since this is Mo’ we’re talking about she was more than willing to give a very teachable lesson on why you should NEVER play with her or with her stage time.

The Huffington Post reports that Mo’Nique and D.L. were scheduled to appear together at Detroit’s Fox Theater for 105.9 KISS-FM’s The Comedy Explosion but Mo’ alleges that the letters D.L. must stand for Diva Life because according to her, he refused to share the stage with her if she was the headliner. We already know who the true Diva is, and now so does D.L. Mo’ decided to start her set a little differently by launching into a ten-minute tirade on who she is and why she’s not to be fucked with.

“Y’all don’t understand I was getting ready to walk the fuck up out of here, but I said, ‘I can’t let the people down,’” she added. “I’m 30-plus years in this motherfucking business and I don’t open for no goddamn body. The contract said ‘the headliner.’”

Mo’Nique insisted that Hughley “crossed the line,” citing their “history” as comedians in the industry. She also claimed Hughley criticized her in the past while on one of his tours.

Clearly, her rant was the equivalent of pissing all over the stage and claiming it as her own, but that didn’t stop D.L. from attempting to shield his face from her golden shower (although it should have). He logged into the social media high school known as Instagram to school everyone about why Mo’ is so problematic and referenced her past beefs just to bring the point home.

“All you have to do is check the order of names on the ticket stub from last night and you’ll see who’s confused. Against my better judgment, over the objections of my team and 4 other occasions where I said NO, I decided to take a chance and work with Monique,” he wrote.

Hughley poked fun at Mo’Nique’s infamous feuds with other celebrities, writing, “Now it’s MY turn.”

D.L. even went as far as posting a flyer for the event where his name appears first:

And that’s when Mo’, who has no problems putting a bitch in their place, stomped all over his post:

Hopefully, D.L. will take the hint from the phrase “You opened for the Kings of Comedy, and I was the headliner for the Queen of Comedy” as a lesson that the HEADLINER… ALWAYS ….goes last. And that’s what I’m seeing from the order of the post. Then again, what do I know? I’ll say whatever I have to just so Mo’ doesn’t come for me next time.
