Pete Davidson, Kate McKinnon, Aidy Bryant, And Kyle Mooney Are All Leaving “Saturday Night Live”

Those who watch Saturday Night Live, may get a dose of the cast singing Goodbye Butthole Eyes to the tune of Goodbye Yellow Brick Road at the end of tonight’s show. Because Pete Davidson is FINALLY leaving along with longtime SNL MVP Kate McKinnon, Aidy Bryant (NooooOOnnnn!), and Kyle Mooney, better known as the dude who plays Baby Yoda. Deadline says that at the end of tonight’s 47th season finale, which will be hosted by Natasha Lyonne, all four will take their final bows…. before Lorne Michaels comes out to remind them that they signed over their sooooouuuuls to him and they can’t leave ever!

Deadline says that with Pete, Kate, Aidy, and Kyle sashaying out Studio 8H’s exit door, that leaves approximately 856 cast members:

It comes after creator Lorne Michaels admitted that he was expecting this year to be a “year of change” for the show.

We hear that there may be a big group goodbye, featuring all four the departees, at the end of tomorrow night’s episode, which is hosted by Natasha Lyonne.

It’s not a huge surprise given that this season – season 47 – featured its largest ever cast with 21 stars and eight cast members that were entering their eighth season and beyond.

Kate McKinnon joined SNL as a featured player in 2012 and was upped to regular the next season. Since then, being on SNL has gotten her eight Emmy nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series and she won two of them. But recently, she hasn’t been on as much because she was busy playing Carole Baskin on Peacock’s Joe vs. Carole, and she’s also in the Barbie movie. Like Kate, Aidy came into SNL as a featured player in 2012 and became a regular the next year. She’s gotten two Emmy noms for it. And she starred in her own show, Shrill, which just ended after three seasons. Kyle Mooney has been a cast member since 2013. And Pete Davidson became one of the youngest SNL cast members ever when he became part of the cast at 20 years old in 2014. But Pete doesn’t need that shit anymore and is barely on since last year he landed his biggest role yet as Kim Kardashian’s rebound piece and is probably hoping that he’ll be at least a featured player in the second season of Hulu’s scripted shit show The Kartrashians. Oh, and he’s also working on his own Peacock show, Bupkis, which also stars Edie Falco as his mom.

If nobody else checks out of SNL, then the 48th season will star Cecily Strong (joined 2012), Bowen Young (joined 2019), Michael Che (joined 2014), Colin Jost (also 2014), Mikey Day (joined 2016), Heidi Gardner (joined 2017), Chloe Fineman (joined 2019), Alex Moffat (joined 2016), Ego Nwodim (joined 2018), Chris Redd (joined 2017), Melissa Villaseñor (joined 2016), and featured players Punkie Johnson (joined 2020), Andrew Dismukes (also 2020), Aristotle Athari, James Austin Johnson, and Sarah Sherman (all three joined last year).

And of course, the SNL equivalent of the uncle who will not leave the family party even though he sees everyone cleaning up and turning off the music, Kenan Thompson, has been on since 2003 and has said he wants to stick it out until at least his 20th season. Whenever he does leave, we’ll know for sure, because as soon as it’s over between him and SNL, the earth’s core will explode, and as we all go flying into the universe, we’ll look at each other like, “Oh, so I guess this means Kenan Thompson left SNL.”
