Gisele Bündchen Says Being Married To Tom Brady Is No Fairy Tale

Gisele Bündchen is working on a cookbook, due out in 2024 and tentatively titled Finally Free: 365 Recipes for Air, and so sat down with British Vogue to discuss the contents of her refrigerator (“various packets of organic seeds -flax, hemp, chia- are lined up in neat rows, alongside a loaf of ancient grain gluten-free bread”) and life with her husband, plant-based meathead Tom Brady. If you thought that being married to a man who’s afraid of strawberries was a fairy tale come true, then Gisele has some very bad news for you and it’s not that dinner’s ready. It’s that the guy who famously un-retired is focused on his career.

Tom and Gisele have been together for 15 and share 2 kids, Vivian Lake, 9, and Benjamin Rein, 12. Gisele is also bonus mom to Tom’s 14-year-old son John “Jack” Edwards, who with his ex, Bridget Moynahan, was pregnant with when Tom and Gisele first started dating. Gisele says in the interview that she’s “very grateful” that Tom lets her “take the reins” when it comes to parenting, presumably because if she didn’t, the kids would have to forage for their own nuts and swamp grasses and risk getting gobbled up by a gator. People reports:

Gisele Bündchen holds the title of supermodel and supermom in her home!

In a new interview with Vogue UK published on Wednesday, the Brazilian bombshell revealed she “takes the reins” when it comes to her family, and her husband, seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady, supports her decisions.

“I don’t think relationships just happen; it’s never the fairy tale people want to believe it is. It takes work to be really in sync with someone, especially after you have kids,” she told the outlet.

Added the former Victoria’s Secret Angel: “His focus is on his career, mine is mostly on the kids. And I’m very grateful that he lets me take the reins when it comes to our family. He trusts my decisions.”

How gratuitous of him! Especially coming from someone who “only ate nuts and grapes when [she] met him.” That’s grapes and nuts separately, not the cereal Grape Nuts. Sounds to me like if Tom took the reins, the entire family would be eligible to play for the Buccaneers because of all the scurvy. This isn’t the first time Gisele has brought up Tom’s hands-off parenting approach. Two years ago Tom told Howard Stern that Gisele had written him a letter telling him to get his shit together and learn how to spell the kids’ names already. People reports:

“She felt like I would play football all season and she would take care of the house, and then all of a sudden when the season ended, I’d be like, ‘Great, let me get into all of my other business activities. Let me get into my football training,’ and she’s sitting there going, ‘Well when are you going to do things for the house? When are you going to take the kids to school and do that?’”

Brady said that it was a wake-up call for him, adding, “that was a big part of our marriage that I had to like check myself because she was like ‘I have goals and dreams too.’”

It’s a shame they can’t afford help. But it sounds like they worked things out anyway. Maybe it was the $2 million “eco” mega-yacht named after her “environmental initiative” and the $17 million “environmentally friendly” mansion on “billionaire’s bunker” in Miami they bought that helped her realize her dream of writing a cookbook for wealthy women whose husbands only get to keep a “vat of muscle-building protein powder” in the family fridge of their second or third home with the “pristine marble countertops, minimalist oak-paneled floor-to-ceiling cabinets and sweeping views of the Financial District” that they only live in “a few nights each year.” So yeah, definitely not a fairy tale. More like a nightmare if you ask me.
