Eric Clapton Has Had To Cancel Shows Because He Caught COVID

This might seem like yet another appearance of fuck around, and his best friend, find out. But that’s not technically the case. Eric Clapton might be someone who has spoken out against the COVID vaccine before, but he’s also a person who got the AstraZeneca vaccine when it was first available. Since then, 77-year-old Eric has dragged the vaccines as far as possible. But Eric recently caught COVID and he’s stone-cold serious about his recovery, so anyone who was hoping to catch Eric Clapton’s Covidfest is out of luck because Eric isn’t going perform while he’s sick.
Eric Clapton was very vocal about the vaccine (he calls the studies showing vaccine efficacy and safety “propaganda” and claims he got side effects that included “peripheral neuropathy“) and COVID lockdowns (he was against them, and vowed to never play at a show that required mandatory vaccines, even though he eventually did). So based on all that information presented, Eric Clapton was giving off some major energy that screamed, “Don’t count on me to follow the CDC’s guidelines, losers!“. Except right now, Eric is following guidelines and is staying at home for the time being. via HuffPo:
British rocker Eric Clapton, a critic of coronavirus vaccines and pandemic restrictions, has tested positive for COVID and canceled two upcoming gigs because he is “anxious” about spreading the virus to colleagues and fans.
The news was broken by Eric himself, who dropped into Facebook and posted about how his shows in Zurich today and Milan tomorrow will not be happening, at the suggestion of his doctors.
“After intensive internal discussion,” it was decided that Eric would be postponing the shows, and planned to be back on stage tearing up the guitar solo from “Layla” on the 20th, which would be this Friday. Eric Clapton’s note adds that it’s “frustrating” that he was able to avoid catching COVID all this time, and that he finally got it when the travel restrictions were lifted and full-capacity concerts resumed. Yeah, it’s almost like the two are related. Wild!
It is very kind of Eric Clapton to want to protect himself, as well as everyone who tours with him, and the fans in the audience. Although had he gone through with those shows, just think of the resale on that merch? You could probably get at least $250 for a t-shirt that reads: “I went to see Eric Clapton in concert and all I got was a stern lecture about vaccine propaganda, and also this case of COVID.”
