Bob Mackie Says Kim Kardashian Wearing Marilyn Monroe’s Dress Was A “Big Mistake”

It’s been a few weeks since Kim Kardashian squeezed her canned hams into Marilyn Monroe‘s iconic “I’m Fuckin’ Your Husband‘” dress at the Met Gala, and we can all still hear the threads of the dress gasping for air. Many people wagged their shame fingers in front of Kim for this blasphemy, but she could care less because as long as we’re talking about her she’s getting exactly what she wants. But Kim might want to prepare for an apology tour since many people have been dragging her for wearing the dress sun the first place. And the first stop on her tour needs to begin with legendary designer Bob Mackie, who drew the sketch for the original dress under the guidance of designer Jean Louis. And he is not happy, claiming that Kim had no business wearing Marilyn’s dress at all.

Entertainment Weekly reports Bob, who has created looks for many Hollywood legends including Cher and Diana Ross, is not here to make Kim feel good about attempting to wear a dress that can’t contain all of her rigid silicone sexiness. And that’s one of the reasons why she had to hide her industrial shelf-sized ass with the white fur that looked just as out of place as she did.

I can imagine Bob’s first words after seeing her were “Who is this golden cockatoo wearing my damn dress!” but he’s remained silent up until now. While speaking with TCM host Alicia Malone Bob wants everyone to know that Kim could NEVER walk a mile in Marilyn’s shoes, let alone in her iconic dress.

“I thought it was a big mistake,” Mackie tells EW, while previewing the new Turner Classic Movies’ fashion on film series Follow the Thread. “[Marilyn] was a goddess. A crazy goddess, but a goddess. She was just fabulous. Nobody photographs like that. And it was done for her. It was designed for her. Nobody else should be seen in that dress.”

Oh, Bob. Apparently, you haven’t heard but Kim’s crazy too. Not so much a goddess, however. Or someone who uses common sense now that Kanye is no longer dressing her like the plastic Dollar Tree doll we’ve all come to know and tolerate. Alicia Malone also chimed in as to why Kim should have just left the dress in the museum where she found it.

“There are all the issues with the actual preservation of the dress and things like oxygen can affect a dress,” she explains. “Usually, these outfits are kept very much in controlled environments and we see that with the Met. The Costume Institute is so careful about how they are handling these historic items. So, it was quite alarming that she was able to wear it. I personally wish she wore a replica instead of the real thing.”

Meanwhile, I’m sure Kim is at home now scouring the internet for yet another famous frock to defile for famewhore glory. Might I suggest her next fashion inspiration come from Halloween‘s Michael Myers? And not the jumpsuit. Just the mask, please.
