Rebel Wilson Has A New Boyfriend And Says She Went Out With 50 People In 2019

2020 may have been Rebel Wilson’s “Year of Health,” but 2019 was her “Year of Slut.” Oops, my bad: “Year of LOVE.” 42-year-old Rebel was on this week’s episode of the dating podcast U Up?, and she revealed that she went out with over 50 people in 2019. She says the dates were with “the full spectrum of people,” from billionaires to poors who lived in cities like NYC, LA, and San Diego. Hey, if you’re gonna go on 50 first dates, might as well squeeze ’em all in before a pandemic.

Rebel, who says she’s currently “happily in a relationship,” shared details about her “Year of Love” (and yes, she’s totally appropriating the Chinese by giving every new year a name), via Yahoo!:

“I went on some dates with some billionaires and then also some people who had nothing,” she shared. “It was the full spectrum of people.”

I, too, have dated the full spectrum of people. From guys with beards who play the drums to guys with beards who work as “chefs” (line cooks). A real “who’s who” of wannabe hipsters with alcohol issues! But, unlike Rebel, I didn’t have the services of the FBI to do background checks on them. Yep, that’s right, Rebel Wilson had an FBI guy:

“The last person I went out with on the app, I did get the FBI to, like, check them out, just to make sure there was, like, nothing… and there was actually something in their past,” Wilson said. “It was an assault charge.”

“I just sensed that something wasn’t right,” Wilson explained of what prompted the check-in.

But Rebel didn’t need the FBI to vet her current boyfriend, who she says she met through a friend, via People:

“I was on and off on the Raya app, but this was a friend set up,” she explained. “He’d known both of us for at least five years each, and was like, ‘Yeah, I think you two would hit it off,’ and then we did.”

“I think that escalates things quicker, [meeting someone] from a trusted source,” she added of her newfound romance. “So then you’re like, okay, I can trust this person, that they are legit, they are who they say they are – which is something on the [dating] apps you don’t really know.”

Rebel didn’t reveal who her boyfriend is, but last December she was linked to Australian tennis player Matt Reid. Word on the street was she met Matt through her close friend, Bachelor Australia star Brittany Hockley. Before that, she dated the Busch Beer heir, Jacob Busch.

I don’t blame Rebel for wanting something more serious after going out on 50 First Dates (although, realistically, we need to account for anecdote-exaggeration, and acknowledge that the real number was probably closer to 25-30). First dates are horrible. HORRIBLE! The anxiety, the getting-to-know-you questions, the binge drinking to get through the awkwardness, which causes you to puke while he’s walking you home, but then he kisses you anyway, which grosses you out, even though you’re the one who threw up. And then you decide you don’t like him, but he beats you to the punch and texts, “Sorry, didn’t feel a spark!” and then you feel like a bag of shit the rest of the week because he rejected you. This line cook loser in his late thirties with three roommates and a goatee! You’d be lucky to get with me, Ryan, you stupid little bitch.
