Ezra Miller Claims They Film Themselves Being Assaulted For NFT Art

Phew, we can finally stop worrying about Ezra Miller. TMZ reports that there’s a perfectly good reason for their recent arrests and legal trouble in Hawaii. Like Shia LaBeouf before them, Ezra did it all in the name of ART. Only in Ezra’s case, in the name of NFTART.

Back in March, Ezra was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and harassment at a bar in Hilo, Hawaii after allegedly spitting in the face of a man who was reportedly playing darts and minding his own damn business. Ezra was also accused of snatching a microphone away from a woman who was singing Karaoke. The next morning, Ezra had a restraining order filed against them by a couple Ezra was staying with and who claimed Ezra threatened them and stole some personal belongings (the restraining order was later dropped by the couple). A few weeks later, Ezra was arrested again, this time for second-degree assault after police were called to a loud gathering at a house in a private subdivision and were told that Ezra threw a chair at a lady’s forehead after being told to leave. TMZ reports that police have just released bodycam footage of that first arrest in which Ezra lets them know “I film myself when I get assaulted for NFT crypto art.” According to Entertainment Weekly:

The video, which surfaced on TMZ, was apparently taken from a police officer’s body camera and begins with a man in a Hawaii bar saying he had just been playing darts when Miller walked up and spit on him for no discernible reason. Miller, who uses they/them pronouns, disputes this account, saying they were the one who had been assaulted in the bar. As the police walk Miller outside, the actor says they have their own video of the incident.

“I was assaulted in this bar, twice in a row,” Miller says in the video. “I film myself when I get assaulted for NFT crypto art.”

If that’s the case, then Ezra’s working on quite a portfolio. At this rate, they’re going to have Beeple’s Everydays – The First 5000 Days beat by a mile. Ezra told police that they were assaulted when “the guy at that bar declared himself as a Nazi.”

Miller then repeatedly and aggressively asks for the police officer’s name and badge number, which he appears to provide. At this point, Miller seems to start walking onto the street, and the police handcuff the actor, who invokes both the Fourth and Ninth Amendments.

Later, Miller yells, “Hey, you just touched my penis! Please don’t do that.” The police officer responds that he did not.

“I’m transgender, nonbinary, and I don’t want to be searched by a man!” Miller shouts.

The video cuts forward to the police bagging Miller’s belongings. “Please don’t take them from me,” the actors says. “The Flash ring means a lot to me.”

Oh, I do hope Ezra knows their Flash ring doesn’t really have magical powers. And Warner Bros definitely has another one just like it just waiting to find a less problematic finger to adorn. As for this NFT art, I would like to see it. Unfortunately, Ezra’s Instagram account has been deleted so I guess we’ll have to wait until it goes to auction at Christie’s. Here’s the video of Ezra’s arrest.

Judging from the raspiness of Ezra’s voice when they’re screaming at those cops, in addition to being a white-hot mess, Ezra’s also a mic hog. Good thing they’re probably already banned from every karaoke bar this side of the Pacific.
