Britney Spears And Sam Asghari Have Set A Wedding Date, But Are Keeping It A Secret

Another detail of Britney Spears’ marriage to her longtime boyfriend Sam Asghari has been revealed, so get out your pens and hope journals if you’re the type of person who has been following along with this ever-evolving real-life fairy tale at home. Ever since Sam and Britney got engaged in September, we’ve learned that Sam would absolutely be signing a prenup, that Britney’s dress would be custom-made by Donatella Versace herself, and that the wedding may or may not feature Britney with a bridal lace-covered baby bump, depending on the timeline of when these two get hitched. We still don’t know the complete answer to that last wedding day clue, but Britney and Sam do! Because they have let it be known that they’ve officially set a date for this thing to go down.

Sam broke the mysterious-ish news in an Instagram Story yesterday, in honor of Mother’s Day (Britney is a mom of two, 16-year-old Sean Preston and 15-year-old Jayden James, and is expecting a baby sometime this year). And while Sam has been known to call Britney his “wife” on social media, he made it known that he’s still waiting to legally call her his wife. And we’ll all be waiting to find out when that is, because Sam put it out there that it’s going to be a secret until after he and Britney exchange rings in front of a registered marriage officiant, and their wedding cake has long digested in their lower intestines. via Page Six:

“Our lives have been a real life fairytale,” he wrote over a pic from when the pair first got engaged in September 2021.

“happy Mother’s Day to you my soon to be queen.”

Asghari then added, “Also The big day has been set!” before noting that the exact date will be kept secret, writing, “But nobody will know until the day after.”

And yes, Sam re-used a picture from their engagement announcement, which is smart because you know the internet detectives would have examined every pixel of a new picture, looking for evidence of a chair rental agreement or a venue contract or a single slip of paper with a drawing of possible centerpieces (“Are those daisies? But those are mostly in season in…oh my god, the wedding is happening within the first two weeks of July!“).

Britney didn’t have anything to say about this alleged save-the-date (that just so happens to be void of any actual date). But, she did introduce the world to her new cat, Wendy, as well as the veil she’ll allegedly be wearing on that date that she and Sam picked out and refuse to disclose to the general public.

The most reasonable explanation for why Sam and Britney don’t want to release their wedding date is because they want to keep it relatively hush-hush for the sake of Britney’s well-being. Especially since she just spent several years locked in the kind of conservatorship that prevented her from having even an ounce of privacy to herself. But let’s also be real here. Hiding the wedding date also means that Britney doesn’t have to worry about any uninvited guests showing up on her big day and causing a scene. Who, you ask? Oh, I wonder who. I won’t name names, but I am almost sure Britney doesn’t want to be fixing her veil into her hair, and hear a desperate Jamie Spears hollering from the gate downstairs about how he’d love to put everything behind them for the sake of family and love and, oh, I don’t know, his future legal bills, and walk his little princess down the aisle one more time.
