Kourtney Kardashian’s Kids Weren’t Happy About Her Getting Engaged To Travis Barker
Last year, 43-year-old Kourtney Kardashian and 46-year-old Travis Barker got engaged in a private and subdued ceremony that totally wasn’t filmed for the Kardashians’ reality show. Travis apparently went to the grave of Kourtney’s late father, Robert Kardashian, to “ask” for Robert’s blessing, and no word if a Ouija board was involved or not. But while Travis sought the blessing of Kourtney’s late dad, I guess he didn’t ask Kourtney’s children, and if he did, he probably would’ve gotten a FUCK NO from them. Because they apparently weren’t happy about their mom getting engaged. You’d think anyone would be an upgrade from Scott Disick but sometimes it’s a wash.
Kourtney and Travis have been assaulting eyeballs for the last few…one year (!) and everyone has been asking the question, “WHEN WILL IT ALL STOP!?” Sadly, for those of you who have been screaming this into the void, there is no end Kourtvis. They are engaged, they are fake married, and they are forever. Back in October of last year, Travis bankrupted the local flower industry to propose to his girlfriend. The kids weren’t involved in the proposal, so Kourtney broke the news of the engagement to her children with Scott: 12-year-old Mason, 9-year-old Penelope, and 7-year-old Reign on the most recent episode of The Kardashians (now on Hulu!). During Thursday’s episode of Hulu’s The Kardashians, fans got a glimpse of the heartbreaking reaction the 9-year-old had to learning Barker got down on one knee and proposed to the Poosh founder.
After Kourtney said yes and celebrated the engagement with loved ones, she decided to call her children — Mason, 12, Penelope, 9, and Reign, 7, whom she shares with ex Scott Disick — and tell them the exciting news.
Kourtney FaceTimed Penelope and told her about the proposal, with sister Kim Kardashian by her side. “Do you want to know what my surprise was?” she asked Penelope, before announcing, “We got engaged!”
Though viewers could not see Kourtney’s phone screen, Penelope could be heard crying on the phone. “Is that upsetting?” Kourtney asked, while Kim said, “Penelope! Why are you crying, baby?”
Penelope then abruptly hung up the phone, as the cameras showed Kourtney looking sad over her daughter’s reaction.
Nothing like breaking life-changing news for a child in front of a team of cameramen and producers! Thankfully, the Kardashian Klan was available for kounseling. After Penelope hung up, Khloé, Kendall, and Kylie Jenner kame to konsult Kourtney about the incident.
“Penelope is upset,” Khloé continued. “They think they’re losing their dad, I don’t think they think they’re losing their mom. They think their dad is gone and Travis is replacing him. When you’re a kid, you think you have to pick one, so P’s reaction is understandably okay. But there’s nothing wrong with Travis. It’s the same way we felt about [Caitlyn Jenner]. There was nothing wrong with [Caitlyn].”
Kourtney agreed, telling her sisters, “Once my dad was accepting of [Caitlyn], it felt like we could take a deep breath and be friendly with [Caitlyn] and get along with him and not feel bad.”
“I think that it’s really important for Scott to be accepting of our relationship so that the kids can feel good,” she added in a confessional.
After the disastrous announcement to Penelope, Kourtney moved on to telling Reign. His response? “Not exciting!” Oh, Reign. You’ve captured our feelings so perfectly. Mason was unavailable for comment. As for Kourtney’s other child, Scott has made it clear that he’s not particularly thrilled with the engagement. For now, he’s been drowning himself in 19-year-olds to soothe the pain.
I guess the next step is for Kourtney and Travis walking down the aisle. I mean for real this time since that Vegas thing doesn’t count. What will be in store for us? Will Travis buy all the flowers in America? Will Kourtney wear a classic dress fit for the Met Gala but not her ass? We’ll just have to find out in the next episode of The Kardashians!
