Sources Deny Ray J’s Claims That Kris Jenner Helped Negotiate The Release Of His And Kim Kardashian’s Sex Tape

Recently, Ray J has been talking a lot about his 2007 sex tape with Kim Kardashian, especially since there’s a scene in Hulu’s The Kardashians where Kanye West gifts Kim with a laptop with footage of a second sex tape on it. The laptop came from Ray J. Ray J called that scene “a lie” because he claims he’s never had copies of their sex tapes and the laptop didn’t have any sexual content on it. He then talked to The Daily Mail and claimed that he and Kim made other sex tapes together but that she has them all. Ray J also stamped TRUE on the theory that Kris Jenner helped negotiate the sale of the tape to Vivid to make Kim a household name and future reality TV star (Keeping Up With The Kardashians would premiere eight months after the sex tape came out.) But once again, that claim is thrown back into the annals of infamy, thanks to some “sources with direct knowledge” stepping up to defend Kris Jenner’s good name.

During his talk with The Daily Mail, Ray J said he’s pissed that the Kardashians are essentially pushing the fairy tale that he leaked (ha) the tape in the first place. According to Ray J, he joked to Kim about releasing a sex tape since Paris Hilton’s got so much attention. Kim took his joke as a real idea, loved it, and ran off to pitch it to Kris. Kris then helped Kim and Ray J negotiate its release with Vivid. It has been said that Vivid purchased the video from a third party for $1 million, which was followed by Kim reportedly suing Vivid over the release of the tape, but dropping the lawsuit and settling for $5 million.

So that brings us to TMZ getting involved in this and “sources” deny that Kris was involved:

Ray J insists Kris Jenner was smack in the middle of negotiating Kim and Ray J’s sex tape, but we’ve learned the businesswoman of the century was hands-off when the deal was cut.

Sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ, Kris never negotiated with Vivid Entertainment, which distributed the tape back in 2007. We’re told Kim and Ray J dealt with Vivid directly and with their lawyers.

TMZ also points out that Vivid would need signatures from both Ray J and Kim before releasing the tape, otherwise Vivid would be at risk of getting sued for releasing it without full consent. So yes, the tape technically wasn’t leaked by Vivid. TMZ did add that just because these sources are swearing that Kris wasn’t sitting at Vivid’s negotiation table, doesn’t mean she wasn’t possibly working behind the scenes. I mean, yeah – obviously. Do you think Kim Kardashian could figure out that deal on her own? Kris was probably there whispering to Kim through a hidden earpiece, saying stuff like, “A contract is the papers in front of you. Yes, papers come from trees. Remember, you can’t use the pen until you remove the lid first. Kim starts with a K. K comes after J in the alphabet. Please get this right honey, you’re our best shot at fame!”
