HBO Has Released A Trailer For The “Game of Thrones” Spin-Off “House of the Dragon”

I don’t know who is still clamoring for more Game of Thrones after showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss shit the bed at Westeros during the final season. But HBO spent a lot of money on ratty-looking white-blond wigs and unless they want to cut them up and use them for a limited series called Night of a Thousand Warhols starring Nicole Kidman, they’ve got to recoup their costs somehow. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the GoT prequel, House of the Dragon, is set to premiere on August 21, which is just around the corner. That’s tantamount to it having premiered three weeks ago, by GoT standards, given that it’s barely been 3 years since Dasani, Mother of Hydration, made her small screen debut in the finale.

House of the Dragon is set 200 years before Ned Stark got his head lopped off in the first season of GoT, which premiered in 2011. And they made Matt Smith, who plays Prince Daemon Targaryen, bleach his eyebrows, so I hope it was worth it. Like its predecessor, HOtD is based on a book, this time Fire & Blood, by George R.R. Martin. Fire & Blood is a two-volume book that focuses on House Targaryen, Daenerys’ crew. Matt is joined by Paddy Considine as King Viserys Targaryen, Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower, and Emma D’Arcy as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen. Mercifully, David and D.B. have fucked off over to Netflix. Here’s the trailer. As you can see, they’ve decided to finally let a non-white person, who isn’t a slave or a former slave, into the throne room. Just the one though. Baby dragon steps I guess.

This has me screaming “My kingdom! My kingdom for a lace front!” And are they still filming this thing under a giant pillow fort? Why is it still so dark?! Let these Children of The Corn-looking inbreds shine already! THR adds:

The series, premiering Aug. 21, is a major initiative for HBO, which hopes to recapture some of the magic of Game of Thrones, which represented more than $1 billion in revenue during its run from 2011 to 2019. The company also has several other prequel projects set in the world of Westeros in various stages of development, and House of the Dragon performing well would be a good sign that GoT can be turned from a singular hit series into a franchise.

I dunno. I don’t think I need any more GoT stories. Maybe call me when Dansani gets her own spin-off.
