Open Post: Hosted By Katy Perry Falling Out Of Her Chair While Dressed Like The Little Mermaid On “American Idol”

Honestly, the last winner of American Idol that I remember was all of us when they originally canceled this mess back in 2016. But American Idol came back in 2018 with a new judging line-up including Lionel Ritchie, Luke Bryan, and Katy Perry. The show is currently in its 20th season and they’re still pulling stunts. Case in point: On last night’s episode, Katy Perry, who was done up like Ariel from The Little Mermaid, gave her version of Part Of Your World called Part Of The Floor by falling off her chair.

USA Today reports that on last night’s episode of Idol, the remaining contestants were tasked with taking on Disney’s huge catalog of hits and I am so glad I didn’t watch that because as soon as someone fucks up Hakuna Matata, I’m throwing the remote at the TV. Still, in getting into the spirit, Katy came dressed as The Little Mermaid with Lionel and Luke escorting her out onto the stage.

And that’s when her decision to come dressed as a mermaid became the dumbest decision of her day.

Even the judges got into the Disney spirit, with judge Katy Perry dressing up as Ariel from “The Little Mermaid” and Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan wheeling her to the judges’ table. But Perry may want to reconsider mermaid life, as she fell over in her chair shortly after sitting down.

“Are you okay? Are you all right?” host Ryan Seacrest asked Perry. Perry playfully shook off the fumble, taking a swig of her drink while the audience chanted her name in support.

Here’s Katy taking a tumble:

I’m sorry, but I’m Luke Bryan in this situation pointing and laughing at her stupidity. Katy, darling, Halloween ain’t for another five months. She could have just as easily worn the wig and kept it moving but you know Katy always has to go for the theatrical. But little did she know the real competition taking place that night would be between herself and a plush office chair destined to make hitting the floor a part of her world that night. What? Too soon?
