Olivia Wilde Was Served Custody Papers From Jason Sudeikis Onstage At CinemaCon, But He Claims He Didn’t Know That Was Going To Happen

The messy drama is back with these two! 46-year-old Jason Sudeikis and his ex, 38-year-old Olivia Wilde, are in the headlines after a chaotic serving of legal documents that ranks below serving an ex at the grave-site of their dead relative but still way above doing it anywhere private. The two were together for almost ten years and share two children, an 8-year-old son, Otis Alexander, and a 5-year-old daughter, Daisy Josephine. They broke up in 2020 and the break-up drama included Harry Styles, as we heard shortly afterward that he and Olivia were dating. The break-up reportedly hit Jason hard and he was hoping that Olivia’s thing with Harry was just a phase (but Olivia and Harry are still together). And now Deadline says that while onstage at CinemaCon in Las Vegas over the weekend, Olivia was served with a manilla envelope. Rarely if ever do good things randomly come to you in a manilla envelope, and this case was no different, as inside were custody documents. Like I said: DRAMA!

Olivia was at CinemaCon held at Caesars Palace’s The Colosseum, to shill the movie she directed, Don’t Worry Darling, starring Harry, and Florence Pugh. The movie is about Alice, a 1950s housewife whose husband, Jack (Harry), “is employed by an enigmatic operation known as the Victory Project. The org is expected to change the world as we know it. The women in town are told to stay indoors, but Alice has her suspicions as she begins to observe violent acts.” Here’s a teaser trailer, which, to be honest, kind of looks like an artsy student film.

But the movie is totally getting overshadowed by the stage play that nobody paid for but got anyway, as someone strolled up to the stage during the Warner Bros. session of the convention while Olivia was presenting and slid her a manila envelope labeled “personal and confidential.”

During the Wilde was briefly interrupted when an unidentified person approached from the front rows and slid a manila envelope across the front of the stage toward her.

“This is for me?” Wilde asked.

She retrieved the envelope and opened it. However, like a pro, Wilde was not rattled by what must have been a shocker. With her personal life put suddenly on public display, the filmmaker continued addressing the audience made up largely of exhibitors about her project. After the trailer for Don’t Worry Darling played, it was met with great applause.

The CinemaCon showrunners have responded since that Will Smith slap at the Oscars has everyone on their toes worried about security. When Deadline reached out to CinemaCon’s organizers, they said they had no idea how the process server even got into the venue because you need a badge. Mitch Neuhauser, the Managing Director of CinemaCon, said in a statement to Deadline:

“We have never in the history of the convention had an incident where a delegate has approached the stage who was not authorized to be there. In light of this incident, we are reevaluating our security procedures to ensure the safety of all our attendees.”

The organizers have also said that they plan to “reevaluate our security protocols.” Deadline adds that supposedly it was Jason’s attorneys who arranged the legal drop. Jason did not know it was going to happen like that:

According to the actor’s spokesperson, Sudeikis “had no prior knowledge of the time or place that the envelope would have been delivered as this would solely be up to the process service company involved and he would never condone her being served in such an inappropriate manner.”

Deadline attempted to contact the Brooklyn-based law firm handling the case for clarification. But Deadline hears that “the actor is very displeased with what happened in Las Vegas last night.” Deadline also notes that Jason’s team chose not to comment when they reached out to them before the story broke.

The way this would not happen to me because I would never pick up a random manilla envelope. I’ve seen enough HLN murder shows and legal series to know that is either you getting served or poisoned. And I don’t need either! And this is pretty dramatic but at least this may inspire more creativity from Olivia and those around her. I mean, Harry may have written his new single As It Was is about Olivia, so maybe he’ll write another song about this? Sudden Serving sounds like something he would sing.
