Alec Baldwin Joked That His Next Child Will Have An “All-American” Name

For Alec Baldwin and Hilaria Baldwin, “shame” is not a word that exists on its own. “No shame” is more their style. This means that, despite the legal and ethical mess surrounding the tragic Rust shooting, these two will do everything they can to maintain their bustling attention-whore lifestyle. On Wednesday night, 64-year-old Alex and 38-year-old Hilaria attended the New York Philharmonic Spring Gala, and a “Page Six spy” overheard Alec joking to a journalist that the upcoming Baldwinito #7 will be christened with an “all-American” name. How about something super-duper WASPy like… ohhh, I dunno, “Hillary Lynn Hayward-Thomas”?

Page Six reports that Alec told journalist Tom Murro that he and Hilaria are going to name their newborn “Babe Ruth or Chase Manhattan,” after the baseball player or banking company. The joke is that all the other Baldwinitos have culturally appropriative Spanish or Italian names: Carmen, 8, Rafael, 6, Leonardo, 5, Romeo, 3, Eduardo “Edu”1, and 13-month-old Marí Lucía. I love how Marí Lucía is the most Spanish-sounding of the names, and that’s the baby that came after Pepinogate. The cojones on these Baldwins!

Obviously, Alec’s “all-American” name joke is him doing his very best “self-aware” impression, but, let’s be real. There’s no way in hell this baby will be getting a name any less Española than “Catalina Pilar” or “Jesús Francisco.” The real gag would be if Hilaria trolled us all by naming the child “Pepino.” At that point, I’d almost respect her. And it’s actually kinda cute for a boy.

Last night the couple also made their first red carpet appearance since the Rust shooting at the John Golden Theatre for the opening-night performance of Martin McDonagh’s Hangmen. The play is a dark comedy about a pompous former executioner. I dunno, Alec, maybe go see Funny Girl?
