Open Post: Hosted By One Taco Bell Fan’s Vow To Exercise Daily Until They Bring Back The Grilled Stuft Nacho

April 21, 2022 / Posted by:

I’m gonna be honest. I’ve never had Taco Bell. Not once. I think they briefly opened a location in my hometown 20-ish years ago, but it was ultimately doomed (they stupidly set up shop in between a Tim Horton’s and McDonald’s… in small-town Ontario). But now I’m thinking I should try it out, because so many people go crazy for that shit! And not just disgusting schlubs like you and I; Taco Bell counts Doja Cat, Dolly Parton, and Lil Nas X as die-hard fans. The latest Taco Bell fan to go viral is San Francisco resident Chris Sandberg. People says that Chris missed the Grilled Stuft Nacho (a specialty item discontinued in 2015) so badly, that he vowed to exercise every single day until Taco Bell brought it back. That was back in January 2021. Since then Chris has lost 85 pounds.

Here’s Day 1 of Chris’ exercise journey:

And an update from Day 440, where Chris announces he’s finally under 200 pounds. His original starting weight was 275:

Chris told The Washington Post that he’s put in “an unbelievable amount of physical work,” adding, via People:

“I do understand the irony in exercising every day for a fast-food item,” he said. “It started as a joke that has clearly gone way too far, but I can’t stop now.”

“I didn’t want the journey to be about a number on a scale,” Sandberg added of documenting the journey on TikTok. “I wanted it to be fun. I wanted the goal to be something that had nothing to do with my weight.”

Taco Bell took note of Chris’ efforts, and they sent him a few Grilled Stuft Nachos to try back in February. Here’s Chris enjoying his special reward from Taco Bell:

Unfortunately, Taco Bell has yet to officially bring back the Grilled Stuft Nacho like it recently did with Mexican Pizza (I guess Chris isn’t a big enough celebrity). So Chris’ fitness journey continues. Perhaps forever. My sincerest condolences.
