The Trailer For The Fifth Season Of “Red Table Talk” Is Here, But There’s No Mention Of The Oscars Slap

Not too long after Will Smith’s right palm made contact against Chris Rock’s face at the 2022 Oscars, I found myself eagerly anticipating how Jada Pinkett Smith’s Red Table Talk would break down that moment by every perceivable angle, discourse, discussion, and serious-eyed “Are you kidding me?” stare (possibly Adrienne Banfield Norris’ most enjoyable contribution to the show). But anyone who was waiting to see how The Slap would be covered on Red Table Talk is likely going to have to wait a while longer. Because the trailer for the fifth season has just dropped, and there’s not an open palm nor G.I. Jane reference nor remorsefully teary-eyed Will Smith to be found.

Red Table Talk is arguably the number-one furniture-based source of drama dissection, and it’s hosted by Jada, her mom Adrienne, and her and Will’s daughter Willow Smith, which makes it the perfect spot for a certain recent Oscar-winner to sit down and chat about all that went down on the evening of March 27th. Or even just to hear Jada’s side of things, considering she’s remained relatively silent on the matter while Will has given multiple statements. But no. Here’s the trailer for the upcoming fifth season, and it’s absolutely packed with material, just none of it relevant to the events of the 2022 Oscars.

Chris Rock has said he’s not opening his mouth until he gets paid, and there’s no money like Facebook money. So hit Zuckerberg where it hurts, Chris, and get on Red Table Talk!

But back to what that trailer does show. As you can see, the fifth season (the first episode of which drops on Facebook on April 20) features such notable guests as Kim Basinger and her daughter Ireland Baldwin, Janelle MonaĆ© and her mom Janet Hawthorne, Shark Tank’s Barbara Corcoran, the mother of deceased Miss USA Cheslie Kryst, Tinder Swindler victim Ayleen Charlotte, and in a Red Table Talk first, Willow hosts her two brothers, Jaden Smith and Trey Smith (who Will shares with his ex-wife Sheree Zampino). I’d make a joke about the Red Table turning into the Red Kids’ Table, but we all know Jaden would never willingly converse with non-adults.
