Open Post: Hosted By Dolly Parton Taking Us Through Her Morning Routine

April 12, 2022 / Posted by:

Dolly Parton recently did an interview with Insider and shared details about her early morning routine, which usually begins at the ungodly hour of 3 o’clock. AM. In the morning! Yep, 76-year-old Dolly says no matter how late she goes to bed the night before, her body naturally wakes itself up at 3:00. Um, sweetie, that’s the witching hour. Is it really your body’s internal clock, or the spirits of Porter Wagoner, Kenny Rogers, and Tammy Wynette shaking you awake so you can fourth in their ghost-hootenanay?

Dolly claims that she doesn’t need as much sleep as most people, and that’s a gift she inherited from her father, Robert Lee Parton. She says her pops, who died in 2000 at age 79, “was always up early, even if he had to go to bed late,” via Insider:

“I don’t need a whole lot of sleep,” Parton said. “I go to bed pretty early, but even if I’ve been up late — it’s just kind of like a little clock inside of me that says ‘it’s 3 o’clock!'”

“I do some of my best work there, but I get enough sleep,” she added. “I don’t require as much sleep as a lot of other people do, that’s kind of a Parton family trait.”

Must. Be. Nice. Dolly goes on to say that she also doesn’t need a fancy-schmancy skincare routine to look well-rested. She just buys products that work for her:

“I don’t do any big rituals with my skin or anything, and I don’t think you have to pay a ton of money to have good products,” Parton said. “Most of the products that cost less are just as good, and sometimes better than the ones that cost a fortune.”

She adds that her good skin is due to plastic surgery staying out of the sun when she was younger:

“I never got out in the sun,” she said. “I don’t have a lot of the same problems that women my age do ’cause I never baked myself in the sun. I would’ve if I’d been able to tan but I couldn’t, so now I’m glad!”

But Dolly, what about those of us who didn’t avoid the sun in our youth? Surely you have some other beauty secrets to impart. You know, some weird shit like, “eat Japanese potatoes,” “take milk baths,” or even “stuff your face with Taco Bell’s Mexican pizza until your bowels scream for mercy?”
