Diddy Says That Will Smith And Chris Rock Have Already Made Up After Their Oscars Fight

It was the smack heard round the world. Will Smith marched onstage at the Oscars and slapped Chris Rock for making a G.I. Jane joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s shaved head. But what happened after the Oscars ended? Other than my eyes getting assaulted by thousands of wild, wild takes on Twitter (*cough* Judd Apatow *cough*)? Well, according to Diddy, Will and Chris made up. Page Six reports that Diddy said the beef was over, the two are “brothers,” and “it’s all love.” Will went to the annual Vanity Fair Oscar party with his family, posed for pics, and danced the night away. All’s well that ends well! I’m sure we’ll never hear anything else about this incident ever again.

Hours before Will showed up at the Vanity Fair party, Page Six reported that Will and Chris were expected to work out their issues during the party:

Both are expected to attend the annual Vanity Fair Oscars bash, but it’s unclear if they’ll make amends before or during that soirée. But party sources tell us that moments after Smith “smacked the s–t” out of Rock, security immediately started strategizing because Smith had 20-plus attendees in his party.

Later that night Diddy told Page Six:

“That’s not a problem. That’s over. I can confirm that,” Diddy, 52, told us of the beef without elaborating on further details of how Smith, 53, and Rock, 57, had reconciled. “It’s all love,” he added. “They’re brothers.”

No word on when or where the peace-making occurred, but Will didn’t let a little public smacking stop him from celebrating his Best Actor Oscar win. He and Jada headed to the Vanity Fair Oscar party as planned. Jada changed into a new dress (she graciously donated her green Vivienne Westwood dress to the party’s salad bar), and the couple posed with Jaden, 23, Willow, 21, and Trey, 29 (Will’s oldest son with his ex Sheree Zampino):

Inside the party, DJ D-Nice got on the mic, and shouted, “Congratulations to Will Smith!” and “extolled Smith’s virtues as a close friend.” DJ D-Nice also played a bunch of Will’s hits from the nineties, including “Summertime,” “Miami” and “Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It.” Will rapped along to the lyrics and danced with his Oscar. Here are some videos:

Even though the vibe seems cool (although… who brought a dog? Is it Bradley Cooper?), Page Six says Will’s smack “divided the town”:

“I was embarrassed, I was embarrassed for our industry,” said one influential Hollywood exec who’d brought their young kid with them to the awards.

Others weren’t as scandalized:

When a group of stars — including playwright Jeremy O. Harris, “No Time to Die” star Lashana Lynch, Roots drummer Questlove and comic Marlon Wayans — headed into Vanity Fair’s portrait studio to get a pic taken together, Wayans jokingly yelled out into a hallway: “We’re doing a Black photo! If you want to get slapped, you’ve got to get in!”

Lupita Nyong’o, Lena Waithe and Trevor Noah all embraced Smith when he entered the Vanity Fair party with his family, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Will looks like he was having the time of his life at the Vanity Fair party, but methinks that good mood probably didn’t carry into today. Hell, the man’s probably still in bed, hiding from reality. “Shhh, let him sleep. Big Willy had a big night.”
