The White House Tells Dr. Oz To Resign From A Presidential Council

March 24, 2022 / Posted by:

While Dr. Mehmet Oz recently left his talk show so that he can pursue a Republican Senate seat in Pennsylvania, the television snake-oil salesman is now out of a White House gig he got under the previous President, Donald Trump. Oz was on the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness & Nutrition–which should tell us everything about what the Trump administration thought about health. But now President Joe Biden’s administration has asked Oz to get the fuck out since he’s running for Senate.

NBC News says that Dr. Oz and Herschel Walker were asked to resign from the council because they are both running for Senate seats and you can’t be a candidate for federal office while serving on a board or commission. As mentioned above, Oz is running in Pennsylvania and Herschel is running in Georgia. via CNN:

Members of the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness, & Nutrition are considered special government employees, who, per the Hatch Act, “may not be candidates in partisan elections” while conducting official government business.

Oz took to Twitter to try and roast Joe Biden, bringing up Dr. Anthony Fauci AGAIN:

“I am beyond grateful to President Trump for appointing me to this very prestigious and important position. I am also grateful to my colleagues on the committee and council, and the amazing accomplishments we were able to achieve. I’ve got no intentions, my friends, of resigning. None… If President Biden wants to politicize health, he’ll have to fire me. Let Americans see how truly petty and political he truly is.”

But the thing is, the letter states that Oz’s position will be terminated at 6:00 pm on March 23 even if they do not receive his resignation. And surprise, surprise, Oz has also been accused of not really caring about the council gig he’s trying to hold on to.

The White House is already moving forward and announced that chef José Andrés, and the WNBA player, Elena Delle Donne, will be co-chairs of the presidential council.

In September, the Biden administration asked two of the previous administration’s appointed council members, Sean Spicer and Russ Vought, to resign and they ended up suing. Dr. Oz will probably sue too because ATTENTION. But it is a little surprising to hear that Oz allegedly didn’t do much work on that council. You would think he’d be at every meeting to say, “I think we should offer the American people this exciting new con, I mean weight-loss supplement, I discovered. And we can offer them 50% off with the code OzKnowsBest.
