Heidi Montag Claims Lady Gaga Sabotaged Her Pop Music Career Back In The Day

Spencer Pratt better gather all his magic healing crystals and start building a protective 8-foot wall around his house, because his wife Heidi Montag might have just triggered the vengeful wrath of Little Monsters everywhere. Heidi, no stranger to a throwback feud, recently revealed during a podcast appearance that she believes her short-lived career as a pop star was maliciously snuffed out by a petty, jealous Lady Gaga. Actually, Heidi might need more than just crystals to protect herself from the bad vibes inevitably coming her way, but it appears she may have a thick layer of delusion that might do the trick.

Heidi’s big reveal happened during a recent episode of the Unpopular podcast. In 2010, Heidi released her first and only album, Superficial, which had been in production since 2007. Around this same time, Lady Gaga was coming up as well. Lady Gaga released The Fame in 2008, which was a hit. According to Heidi, the drama with Gaga started in the late 2000s when both were working with producer RedOne (actual name: Nadir Khayat). And both shout him out on songs.

Here’s Lady Gaga’s first big single, “Just Dance,” compared to Heidi’s single, “Fashion.” I don’t know if RedOne can take all the credit for producing Heidi’s “Fashion,” because it absolutely sounds like it was co-produced by PlayStation for a Just Dance knock-off game called Simply Move Rhythmically.

Heidi says that her career trajectory was planned out, but to the surprise of Heidi, it never materialized for her, but the plan worked out for Gaga who co-wrote Fashion. via The Daily Mail:

“[RedOne] and I were going to pair up and we were going to do what him and Lady Gaga ended up doing, which is writing every song together and producing.”

The pair hit the studio and Heidi recorded the song Fashion, which RedOne produced and Lady Gaga wrote. “‘He was like, ‘I just need to get the consent of the writer.’ And so I just thought Lady Gaga was a writer, because she was a writer on the song,” Heidi said. “And he was like, ‘Hey, I’m gonna cut Fashion with Heidi. I have her in the studio, she loves it.’ And [Gaga’s] like, ‘Great. Sure, she can have that song.’ So then I recorded it and it was my song. That was the impression I was under.”

Heidi claims that after she performed the song on The View, Lady Gaga suddenly decided she wanted “Fashion” back, and that’s why “Fashion” doesn’t appear on Heidi’s album. But it does appear on the soundtrack for the 2009 film Confessions of a Shopoholic, recorded by Lady Gaga. It got more awkward after Lady Gaga appeared on a 2009 episode of The Hills with Heid’s nemesis Lauren Conrad. The final straw for Heidi was when RedOne allegedly informed Heidi that he wouldn’t be working with her anymore, because Lady Gaga allegedly gave him an ultimatum. Heidi adds that Gaga had it out for her because Gaga was a fan of Lauren’s.

After calling Heidi a star in 2009, RedOne later tweeted that he was not working on her album.

Heidi might not carry a grudge against Lady Gaga, but she doesn’t have great feelings towards her, saying: “It’s hard because people are like, ‘I love Lady Gaga!’ And I’m like, I’m sure she’s great but I have not had the best encounter with her.”

There’s not a ton of solid proof here to back up what Heidi is saying. If Gaga did what Heidi said she did, then this might be a Sliding Doors-style situation, where Heidi was maybe meant to have the career Lady Gaga ended up with. Who knows how far Heidi might have gone? Maybe it might have been Heidi triggering a mountain of eye-rolls about how method she went for the lead role in House of Gucci!
