Miley Cyrus’ Plane Was Forced Into An Emergency Landing After Being Struck By Lightning

Miley Cyrus is currently in South America on a little tour, and maybe a near-sighted Mother Nature saw that sign Miley was holding during her stop in Chile, and misread it as “Wreck the walls of Miley’s airplane,” because that’s exactly what Mother Nature did. Miley and her crew were flying to Paraguay when things got wild in the sky, and not in the way you might expect in regards to a flight carrying Miley and her cohorts. A thunderstorm rolled in and forced her plane to land after it got struck by lightning.
The flight was taking Miley to Asunción, Paraguay, for the Asunciónico Festival (she recently played Lollapalooza Chile). Early on Wednesday morning, she informed all her Instagram followers that she wasn’t going to be arriving in Paraguay as previously scheduled, and it was all because of the storm that almost took down her plane. Miley shared a video of the thunder and lightning, which legitimately looks pretty dramatic, although to be fair, I’m only measuring that against my gold standard for lightning-based drama, which is of course Garth Brooks’ video for “The Thunder Rolls.” But clearly, it was bad enough to ground the plane, as seen by a picture of the lightning strike damage Miley posted to Twitter.
To my fans and everyone worried after hearing about my flight to Asunción. Our plane was caught in a major unexpected storm and struck by lighting. My crew , band , friends and family who were all traveling with me are safe after an emergency landing. pic.twitter.com/NhKrospppN

That damage looks like the plane gremlin from The Twilight Zone got to it, so obviously no one should have been shocked that Miley’s flight was interrupted with an emergency landing. The Asunciónico Festival also released a statement earlier today, announcing that the first day of the festival is canceled, due to the storm causing massive flooding to the area.

People magazine notes that Miley was set to open the festival with the Foo Fighters, Doja Cat, and Machine Gun Kelly. They add that it’s not known if the rest of the days will go on as scheduled, or if any of those acts will be re-booked onto a different day.
This, surprisingly, isn’t the first time Miley has had a close call with tour transportation. Way back in 2014, Miley’s tour bus spontaneously caught fire (her mother Tish and sister Noah Cyrus were on the bus at the time, but escaped unharmed). So Miley doesn’t have the greatest luck when it comes to getting from A to B. She’s had emergency situations with planes, and automobiles. All that’s left is trains. But you know what, I don’t see that going well either. Miley would show up at the station, leg kicked high on a stack of luggage trunks, making a joke about “Who’s ready to run a train with me?“. To which Thomas and all his tank engine buddies will shake their heads “Nope,” and refuse to leave the station.
