Prince William And Duchess Kate’s Royal Tour Of The Caribbean Is Being Met With Protests

Even after the British Commonwealth nation of Barbados decided that Rihanna is the only queen they will be fucking with from here on out last November, The Firm’s inability to read the room continues to be appalling. According to People, Prince William and Duchess Kate have been trotted out on a royal tour of the Caribbean with stops in Belize, Jamaica, and the Bahamas as part of THE QUEEN’s Platinum Jubilee to smile and wave and reinforce stereotypes about white people not being able to dance. Only instead of being met by a sea of adoring royal loyals in Belize, William and Kate were greeted by protesters who didn’t want colonizers landing their helicopter on their football field. And according to The Express, there’s another protest planned ahead of their next scheduled stop in Jamaica where, in an open letter addressed to them, “a group of politicians, business leaders and doctors have called for the British monarchy to pay slavery reparations.” Needless to say, Will’s going to have to pull out some big moves if there’s any chance of salvaging this mess. He’s going to have to drop and do the worm.

According to People, Kate and Will’s first scheduled visit to a cocoa farm in Belize, had to be moved to another location at the last minute after “villagers staged a protest about colonialism and the use of a football field by the royals for landing their helicopter.” All of which could have probably been avoided if they just changed things up a bit and rappelled out of the helicopter Mission: Impossible style.

Prince William and Kate Middleton were forced to cancel one of their first outings on their Caribbean tour after protests broke out ahead of the couple’s arrival.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge had planned to visit a cocoa farm in the foothills of the Maya Mountains in Belize on Sunday, but that has now been canceled after villagers staged a protest about colonialism and the use of a football field by the royals for landing their helicopter.

Villagers in Indian Creek were photographed on Friday with signs saying, “Prince William leave our land.”

People reports that the local Q’eqehi Maya people have reportedly been in dispute with the NGO Flora and Fauna International, a land conservation organization that both William and THE QUEEN are both patrons of, “over the rights to 12,000 acres of land,” which includes the spot they were supposed to land their chopper. Fun Fact: Edward VIII, the Nazi one who abdicated, was FFI’s very first royal patron.

FFI, of which William has been patron since 2020, bought the land at nearby Boden Creek last December as part of its plans to protect the wildlife. The charity says it also supports the livelihoods and rights of local indigenous people.

Sebastian Shol, chairman of Indian Creek village, was quoted in the Daily Mail saying the royals “could land anywhere but not on our land.”

Village youth leader Dionisio Shol added, “For us, it really hits home because of the treatment. The organizer said we had to let them use the football field and that people were coming to our village and it had to look good. Giving community leaders commands did not sit well with the community.”

Nevertheless, they persisted and found another farm for Will to terrorize with his colonial man’s overbite.

Tomorrow, Will and Kate are scheduled to head to Jamaica where they have been asked to address a legacy even more shameful than Uncle Andy‘s. Express UK reports:

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have met opposition in Kingston, Jamaica – days after they were forced to scrap a visit to Belize due following demonstrations. In Jamaica, a group of politicians, business leaders and doctors have called for the British monarchy to pay slavery reparations in an open letter.

According to the Independent, the group intends to stage a demonstration outside the British High Commission tomorrow (Tuesday) – the day the royal couple arrive.

With Jamaica marking its 60th anniversary of becoming an independent nation in August, an open letter has said the royal visit was of “great concern”.

According to Nadine White, Independent race correspondent, the letter states: “We see no reason to celebrate 70 years of the ascension of your grandmother to the British throne because her leadership, and that of her predecessors, has perpetuated the greatest human rights tragedy in the history of humankind.”

The letter adds: “We note with great concern your visit to our country Jamaica, during a period when we are still in the throes of a global pandemic and bracing for the full impact of another global crisis associated with the Russian/Ukraine war.”

Here’s the open letter. I’m very here for this energy. Come on exclamation point!

Maybe for their next stop in the Bahamas, Will and Kate should think about sneaking in disguised as regular tourists. If anybody questions them, they can just say they are on a Royal Caribbean cruise. One look at Will’s sun-burnt bald spot and they’ll totally believe them.
