Sandra Bullock Says She’s Taking A Break From Acting To Focus On Her Two Children

57-year-old Sandra Bullock has been a hard-working actress for decades. But lately, she’s been spacing her projects out. Ever since she won an Oscar for 2009’s The Blind Side (no comment on that Oscar win), she’s starred in Gravity (2013), The Heat (2013), Our Brand Is Crisis (2015), Ocean’s 8 (2018), Bird Box (2018), The Unforgivable (2021) and The Lost City, which comes out on March 25. Sandra also has Bullet Train coming out this year, but it looks like she’s got nothing in the works, currently. And that’s because she’s ready for a break, so she said to Entertainment Tonight.

In The Lost City, Sandra plays a romance author who gets kidnapped by a maniacal billionaire–played by Daniel Radcliffe–and goes on a romantic adventure with the cover model of her novels–played by Channing Tatum. But she’s not interested in working with big names like Harry Potter and Magic Mike, she’s more interested in her two kids, 12-year-old Louis, and 10-year-old Laila.

The actress confirmed to ET that she is taking a step back from her acting career–at least, for now. While Bullock noted to ET’s Cassie DiLaura that she doesn’t know how long it will be, right now she needs to be “in the place that makes me happiest.”

“I take my job very seriously when I’m at work,” she said, noting it’s a “24/7” job. “And I just want to be 24/7 with my babies and my family… That’s where I’m gonna be for a while,” she added.

So, what’s on Bullock’s mom to-do list? “Servicing their every need,” she said. “Their social calendar.”

Plus, add on a layer of pandemic precautions. “All the parents know me as the crazy lady with the pandemic,” she said. “They know their children will return without COVID when they’ve come to our house.”

A Bird Box sequel has been talked about for a while, but with Sandra not really into doing sequels anymore and now taking a break from acting, it looks like the powers that be won’t even be able to bribe her with money to get her back into the blindfold. I guess that means that, for a little while at least, the streets will be safe from stupid influencers driving blindfolded for views.
