Bella Hadid Admits She’s Had A Nose Job (But Says That’s All She’s Had Done)

Bella Hadid appears on the April issue of Vogue, and inside she reveals what pretty much everyone has suspected each time an old picture of her resurfaces on the internet – that her current nose is not the nose she was born with. But anything else on Bella’s face that might raise suspicion is just your mind playing tricks on you, according to Bella. Bella says nothing else has been done to her face.

Almost four years ago, Bella said that she knows people love to talk about whether she’s had surgery or fillers, and she volunteered to do a face scan to show that she hasn’t had any fillers inserted into her visage. Specifically, Bella’s denial was about filler usage. And it’s the same topic her mother Yolanda Hadid covered a year later, saying that neither of her model offspring, Bella or Gigi Hadid, had ever done “fillers or Botox, or put anything foreign in their bodies.” Leave it to a mom to accidentally drop a sex joke like that. But the pictures don’t lie, and 25-year-old Bella’s before and afters are more startling than the before and after pictures of the Fyre Festival, she helped promote. So Bella has cleared the air and admitted to getting a nose job in her younger days and regrets it.

“I was the uglier sister. I was the brunette. I wasn’t as cool as Gigi, not as outgoing,” she recalls. “That’s really what people said about me. And unfortunately when you get told things so many times, you do just believe it. I always ask myself, how did a girl with incredible insecurities, anxiety, depression, body-image issues, eating issues, who hates to be touched, who has intense social anxiety – what was I doing getting into this business? But over the years I became a good actress. I put on a very smiley face, or a very strong face. I always felt like I had something to prove.”

When Bella was 14, she had a nose job. It’s a decision she regrets. “I wish I had kept the nose of my ancestors,” she says. “I think I would have grown into it.”

So essentially, much like the lyrics of Ashlee Simpson’s 2004 hit “Shadow,” living in Gigi’s shadow fucked with Bella’s self-esteem enough that it made her want to permanently alter her nose. As for other rumored plastic surgeries, Bella says that she’s never gotten an eye lift or her jaw shaved, and her face looking different is the work of face tape.

She has been accused of getting her eyes lifted, her jaw shaved, her lips filled. She says that none of this is true. “People think I fully fucked with my face because of one picture of me as a teenager looking puffy. I’m pretty sure you don’t look the same now as you did at 13, right? I have never used filler. Let’s just put an end to that. I have no issue with it, but it’s not for me. Whoever thinks I’ve gotten my eyes lifted or whatever it’s called – it’s face tape! The oldest trick in the book. I’ve had this impostor syndrome where people made me feel like I didn’t deserve any of this. People always have something to say, but what I have to say is, I’ve always been misunderstood in my industry and by the people around me.”

Face tape sounds very Old Hollywood. I’m picturing Bella applying her face tape while standing on one of those vintage vibrating exercise belt machines. Next thing you know we’re going to head Gigi brush off accusations of getting a full mouth of new teeth by saying, “Oh god, get over it. It’s just a finger full of Vaseline smeared on my smile – second oldest trick in the book.
