Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Are Skipping Prince Philip’s Memorial Due To Security Reasons

If memorial coverage that led to the highest number of complaints the BBC had ever seen and a funeral fit for a king wasn’t enough, a new memorial service at Westminster Abbey has been scheduled for the late Prince Philip. That’s one of the perks of being a senior royal: people will constantly be reminded of your existence well after you pass! Another perk is that you get 24-hour security. Which, as we’ve learned, is no longer the case for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. If they can’t get some beefy dudes to cover them while they visit the UK, it looks like the former royal couple will miss out on Prince Philip’s memorial!

The former senior royals been embroiled in fights regarding Harry’s ability to obtain a security detail whenever he’s in the UK. After experiencing a messy moment with the local paparazzi, the prince suggested that he hire some police officers out of pocket to protect him and his family. However, the UK Home Office swiftly declined the offer. Eventually, Harry obtained the services of lawyers to solve the dispute. A spokesperson for the Sussexes told us: “The Duke will not be returning to the UK in late March, but hopes to visit his grandmother as soon as possible.”

The California-based Duke of Sussex has been embroiled in a legal fight with the Home Office about his protection in his homeland.

It had been expected that Harry and Meghan would attend the service for his grandfather, who died last April at age 99, and finally introduce their 9-month-old daughter, Lilibet, to the royal family.

But, as we revealed, it seemed increasingly likely the couple would skip the service of thanksgiving, to be held at Westminster Abbey on March 29, over security concerns.

It’s the classic “Prince leaves home, Prince wishes to visit with his new family, UK government stops him, legal battle ensues” story. The English really know how to do fairy tales! Since this service is scheduled for March 29th, the likelihood of Harry vs. the UK reaching a workable resolution is low. But never fear royals fans! Everyone else will be attending. Even the wonderful Prince Andrew! HE still gets to go to things like this! Maybe Harry can ask his dad to use some of his personal funds to grease the wheels of the security battle. It appears Prince Charles has loads of money to spare when it comes to taking care of pesky lawsuits!
