Open Post: Hosted By Samuel L. Jackson’s Reaction To Jonah Hill Surpassing Him As The Premier Swearer Of Hollywood

A couple of years ago, Samuel L. Jackson’s cursing crown was snatched up by Jonah Hill thanks to all the fuck words that Jonah says in Wolf of Wall Street. I’m sure Samuel has been cursing about this to himself ever since. And while on The Tonight Show to promote his AppleTV+ show, The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey, Jimmy Fallon brought up how Samuel no longer holds the record for the most swear words uttered onscreen and is in third place behind Jonah and Leonardo DiCaprio. Samuel’s response? “That’s some bullshit!”

Samuel is synonymous with cuss words because of his iconic swears in movies over the years. “I’ve had it with these motherfucking snakes on this motherfucking plane?” Forever iconic. Samuel even taught a swearing class in 15 languages after getting his followers registered to vote in 2020. But he’s no longer the King of Cursing on Camera. Samuel has uttered 301 swear words on camera while Leonardo and Jonah have said 361 and 376 swear words, respectively. I have to say, this seems a bit unfair considering that in Wolf of Wall Street which starred Leo and Jonah, every other word is a swear and the movie is the most expletive-filled movie of all time with 715 swears.

Samuel reacted to learning he had been overtaken in the cussing department the way anyone would: with shock! via Complex:

“That’s some bullshit,” Jackson said lightheartedly of the Buzz Bingo survey… “Jonah Hill. Really?” he said. “And then Leo. Jonah Hill, then Leo. I don’t believe that. Somebody has miscounted.”

From there, the two traded thoughts on how such a ranking would go if it were focused on specific sentence enhancers, with the inimitable “fuck” getting some indirect attention here. Jackson, of course, agreed with Fallon that—if the ranking had been word-specific—he would have won.

This prompted a fuck-focused recollection of Jackson having launched his first-ever tweet on Fallon’s Late Night more than a decade ago. That tweet, as fans will recall, read “Can-a mug fukkasay fuck on here?” Saying a playfully censored version of the 2011 tweet on Wednesday, Jackson said, instead, “Can monkey fighters say fighter on here?”

Here’s Samuel talking about losing his crown:

I don’t care what the numbers say, Samuel is the King of Swears. Well actually, the guy who yells at people as they enter the subway station near where I live is the King of Swears but Samuel is definitely second!
