Kelly Clarkson And Brandon Blackstock Have Finally Settled Their Divorce

March 9, 2022 / Posted by:

I guess you could say that Kelly Clarkson has officially made a Breakaway from her former husband Brandon Blackstock. Listen, it’s a bad joke that barely works, but it was either that or a joke about how she’s Thankful that her marriage to Brandon is over. If I was truly desperate, I might say that she went over her divorce settlement Piece by Piece. There are really only so many Kelly Clarkson albums to work with here. And the point is, that Kelly Clarkson’s schedule is finally a little freer because she isn’t fighting Brandon Blackstock over divorce details anymore.

Kelly filed for divorce back in June 2020. And it got messy shortly thereafter. Kelly has claimed she felt “used” in her marriage, there were accusations of financial fraud, wild spousal and child support demands, and the best of the messiest – that Brandon refused to move out of the ranch that was legally owned by Kelly.

The last time we checked in on Kelly’s divorce drama, sources were saying that Kelly was done playing nice and she was ready to take their divorce fight to trial, and was spending every waking moment prepping for her courtroom showdown with her lawyer, Laura Wasser. Maybe one of those legal prep sessions ended with Kelly and Laura two bottles deep in a case of pinot noir and they were like, “Fuck this, life is too short.” Because Kelly decided to scrap the trial and settle. Speaking of settling, it looks like Brandon decided to settle for significantly less cash than he was originally asking for. via People magazine:

Kelly Clarkson’s divorce from Brandon Blackstock has been finalized. The singer, 39, will pay her ex a massive one-time payment of just over $1.3 million, as well as a monthly child support payment of $45,601 for their two children, River Rose, 7, and Remington Alexander, 5, which started Feb. 1, per court documents obtained by The Blast.

Brandon originally wanted $436,000 a month in child and spousal support. Kelly eventually agreed to about $196,000 a month. The final numbers they settled on are $45,601 in monthly child support and $115,000 a month in spousal support for 10 months. And, he’s also getting a single payment of $1.3 million. And that’s not all! According to court documents, Brandon also walks away from their marriage with the following exciting prizes:

The ranch’s cattle, livestock, dogs, and horses
Two Ford trucks
An ATV
Several snowmobiles
A golf simulator
A couple of expensive watches

TMZ adds that Kelly will keep their Montana ranch, but Brandon is allowed to live there until June 1 and will pay her $12,500 a month in rent. If he moves out of Montana, they will reevaluate the custody situation.

Kelly reportedly makes $20 million a year, so she could easily swing by the horse store or ATV warehouse and replace what Brandon is keeping. She also recently revealed that she intends to change her name to Kelly Brianne. So it sounds like she really wants to be done with this chapter of her life. Or who knows, maybe she’ll mine some of her divorce settlement trauma for a new album of break-up songs. “Two Ford Trucks and a Golf Simulator” really has a nice ring to it.
