Suzanne Somers Says That The ThighMaster Has Made Nearly $300 Million Since The 90s

Suzanne Somers is probably best known for two things: playing proud dummy Chrissy Snow on Three’s Company, and being the spokesperson for the ThighMaster. She and her husband of 54 years, 85-year-old Alan Hamel, began selling the ThighMaster in 1990, and, in a recent appearance on the podcast Hollywood Raw with Dax Holt and Adam Glyn, Suzanne revealed that it’s been her biggest money-maker. The 75-year-old had to double-check with her husband, but she explained that the product cost $19.95, and she’s probably sold about 15 million units. Podcast host Dax did the math on his calculator and revealed the number was $299,250,000. Holy shit! A giant “fuck you” to the ABC execs who fired Suzanne for asking for the same salary as her Three’s Company co-star John Ritter.

The podcast hosts were shocked at this revelation. Suzanne’s response was to joke, “Yeah, but I spent a lot! You should see my clothes.” Here’s exactly what was said, via ET Canada:

Somers shared, “Well, it’s $19.95 x 10 million. So you kind of do the math, and we’re probably at 15 million now.” A shocked Holt replied, “I just did it. It’s a lot of zeros. It’s $299,250,000,” after asking whether they own the product outright.

Somers said, “We had partners, 50/50, and they got drunk on money when all started selling and they overspent to the point where they could no longer afford to be in their side of the business. So we bought them out and we have 100 per cent.”

Here’s the clip of her talking about the ThighMaster:

And here’s a retro ThighMaster commercial from 1991 which begins with the male voiceover commenting, “Great legs!”:

The “exercise” product I coveted as a teen wasn’t the ThighMaster but the ab stimulator belt constantly advertised on my TV guide channel. Wrap it around your fat belly, take a nap, and let magical electricity do your workout for you. Twenty minutes later, you’re waking up with Britney Spears’ 2002 stomach. Or you never wake up because the belt electrocuted you to death. 50/50.

And Suzanne Somers once said that her support of Trump was a career killer but I guess she doesn’t need a “career” when she’s the master of thighs.
