The Fairy Tails!
When the gloriously gay creatures of the 1980s, My Little Pony, became a huge hit for Hasbro after making their debut on the toy scene in 1981, Hasbro thought, “Well, if kids love those colorful equine beauties of elegance, they’ll LOVE our colorful Aves of elegance.” And the Fairy Tales were born. They were a line of stunningly exquisite birds that looked like they flew directly out of the pastel-colored b-holes of the 80s. In other words, whimsically beautiful.
Ghost of the Doll says that the Fairy Tails were produced by Hasbro from 1986 to 1987. Yeah, they only lasted a year. The people were just not ready for that much high-flying glamour. The OG line-up of the Fairy Tales included twelve birds, and long before the Kardashian terrorized the letter K, the Fairy Tails beautified the letter T. Because each character’s name started with a T. There was Taffeta Tails, Twinkle Tails (my next Grindr username), Tricky Tails, True Love Tails, Tu Tu Tails, and Tickle Tails (actually, that’s my next Grindr username). Fairy Tails could stand on their own, or you could look like an acid trip Snow White by holding one on your finger.
The Original Set of Fairy Tails had twelve characters (unlike any other series which had just six). Each bird came with a stand, comb and ribbons.
“From the land of beautiful dreams come these fine feathered friends who bring happy endings! These magnificent birds have long, fluffy feathers for little girls to comb and style. Fairy Tails cab sit on a child’s finger or on the perch included. Their feet also open up to a flat position so they can stand upright, too. And Fairy Tails have adorable chest designs and distinct personalities to make them extra special.”
There were also Fairy Tails playsets like this opulent cage:
And here’s a Fairy Tales commercial that covers your eyes beauty and fills your ears with even more beauty:
That’s what Peeps THINK they look like when they look in the mirror. They wish.
And like I mentioned above, the Fairy Tails didn’t become the global wonder that My Little Pony became, and maybe that’s not such a bad thing. I mean, if they did, there might be a chapter of the Brony Bros called the Fairy Fellas. Okay, now THAT is my next Grindr username. Locked!
