Madonna Shows Support For Ukraine In A Musical Montage Set To A Remix Of Her Song “Sorry”

Many celebrities have spoken out against Russia’s war on Ukraine. Some, like AnnaLynne McCord, threw down a slam poem where she apologized to Putin for not being his mother since everything would be different if she was. Others, like John Cena, used the attack to promote his HBO Max show. Not to mention, The View’s Joy Behar going on about how she hasn’t been able to go to Italy because of the pandemic “and now this.” Well, Madonna has shown her support for Ukraine, and this time, she stayed out of the bathtub, and instead, posted a montage video of scenes from Ukraine spliced with clips of Putin’s face and her delivering sexy moves. And while some rolled their eyes like, “There’s Madonna Madonna-ing again,” it got her a follow from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Vulture says that Madge can’t take total credit for the video since it was made by a fan. The fan used a remix of Madge’s 2006 song Sorry, which Madge used to make an anti-war message during her Confessions Tour.

The video, created by Twitter user @cafecomrafa, juxtaposes clips of Madonna dancing with footage of explosions and the aftermath of Russian attacks. Animated lyrics fill the screen as she sings, “I’ve listened to your lies and all your stories … and I can’t take it anymore.” At one point, what appears to be an image of dictator Adolf Hitler is edited over the face of Vladimir Putin. This isn’t the first time that Madonna has used the “Sorry” remix to make a statement. She previously used it as the soundtrack for an anti-war video interlude on her Confessions Tour. Dancers krumped while images of people including Hitler, Dick Cheney, Osama bin Laden, and George W. Bush were projected behind them.

Madge also slammed Putin, showed support for President Zelenskyy, and linked to a Global Citizen article that shows ways to help the people of Ukraine.

If you look through the comments of that post, you’ll find that many are thanking Madge and others are dragging her for being narcissistic and making the situation all about her. But while some are experiencing stage 10 cringe as a side effect from watching that video, The Independent says that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy followed her after she posted the video.

So noted people imaginer Gal Gadot probably saw the president of Ukraine following Madonna and scratched out “We Are The World 2022” on her list of “How To Respond To The Attack On Ukraine,” and wrote in “acoustic version of Madonna’s Sorry,” as her celebrity friends look at their phones, hoping that the name “Gal Gadot” doesn’t pop up.
