Chris Noth Has Returned To Instagram After A Brief Hiatus

Or maybe I should say he was on a “hide-atus,” since it’s not exactly like he was taking a social media break just to reset his batteries and come back with a fresh outlook on life. Chris Noth was metaphorically hiding out after being accused of sexual assault. He pulled back from the spotlight, which is usually a smart thing to do if one finds themselves in the kind of situation that involves a potential police investigation. But Chris is done hiding. Much like that famous groundhog, Chris Noth decided to poke his head out of his hidey-hole and remind everyone that he’s still around. Except instead of predicting the arrival of spring, his return signals that it’s probably time for his publicist to start stocking up on headache pills again.

Chris Noth’s past December started out with a ton of press for his brief appearance in HBO’s Sex and the City revival, And Just Like That…, which was followed by a buzzy Peleton holiday ad. And all that was quickly overshadowed when The Hollywood Reporter published the allegations of two women who claimed that Chris Noth sexually assaulted them at various times in the past. More women came forward to accuse Chris of career-wrecking stuff varying from him being an unprofessional predator creep on set, to more and more women accusing him of assault. Oh, and he lost a bunch of gigs, like his role on The Equalizer, his Peloton ad was pulled, and any possible chance of returning to the SATC universe. That could be enough to have anyone with a gutter-bound career thinking, “Alright, time to retire to an island with a collection of face-obscuring hats under an assumed name.” But not Chris Noth, who decided to start posting on Instagram again. So I guess the self-imposed period of damage control is about two months? via Yahoo! News:

The former And Just Like That… star resurfaced on Instagram in recent days to celebrate his two young sons. The posts come just two months after four women accused the star, who rose to fame on Law and Order and Sex and the City, of sexual assault.

Last week, Noth shared a shot of 14-year-old son Orion during a basketball game. On Saturday, he paid tribute to his younger son, Keats, in honor of his second birthday. The actor shares the boys with wife Tara Wilson. Several commenters voiced support for Noth, leaving messages like, “Welcome back to Insta Chris. I believe you.”

The posts mark his first social media activity since Dec. 11, just days before the initial allegations against Noth surfaced in an article published by The Hollywood Reporter on Dec. 16, in which two women accused him of sexual assault.

Here’s the latest of Chris’ posts, which is a birthday tribute to one of his sons.

I haven’t done the math, but a good percentage of those 870 comments are people welcoming Chris back to Instagram, and assuring Chris they believe and support him. Currently, there is no open police investigation into the allegations against Chris Noth, so we won’t be seeing any of those same Instagram commenters outside a courthouse with signs reading, “He did NOTH-ing!!!“. Likely, they’re offering support for their favorite SATC character, Mr. Big, who won’t even be coming back in the form of a 10-second flashback Carrie has while mentally spacing out her. But now they can support him all they want in those Instagram comments once again. It’s just bound to get awkward when someone gets a little too chatty on some monotonous post about exercise, and asks, “So, would you still recommend buying a Peloton?
