Scott Eastwood Once Got Into It With Shia LaBeouf And Brad Pitt Had To Intervene

Well now this is just sad. Despite being the son of Hollywood royalty, recent Razzie Award nominee Scott Eastwood still can’t catch a break in this town. Much like his fellow hollow-eyed Hollywood hunk who gives off sinister vibes, Armie Hammer, we’ve spent 10 long years trying to make Scott Eastwood happen. And the similarities don’t stop there! No not that, I’m sure his dad Clint Eastwood would run him down with a Gran Torino if he thought Scott was dabbling in the anthropophaginian arts. According to Insider, Scott was involved in an on-set spitting incident while filming David Ayres’ 2014 WWII movie Fury starring Brad Pitt, much like Armie was when auditioning for Mad Max: Fury Road. I guess the unwritten rule is that if the word “Fury” is in the title, you can expect the expectorant to fly.

In Scott’s case, he was the pitcher and his co-star Shia LaBeouf was the catcher. Only, even though it was written into the script, Shia “took it personally” and Brad had to step in before things got out of hand. A real physician heal thyself situation, if you ask me. According to Insider:

It turns out LaBeouf took offense to Eastwood while shooting one scene in a tank. Though it was written in the script that Eastwood’s character would spit on LaBeouf and Pitt’s tank, LaBeouf took it personally. It led to what Eastwood described as a “volatile moment” with the actor before Pitt stepped in and broke things up.

“I never think your process as an actor should ever hinder how people are treated on set,” Eastwood said, looking back. “It should always enhance the production, not take away and put people in a situation where it’s a shitty work environment or you’re rude or people have to be in an uncomfortable situation.” (Insider reached out to LaBeouf and Pitt but didn’t get a response.)

I hope Brad channeled his inner Peter Sellers and shouted  Gentlemen! You can’t fight in here, this is the war room!” I honestly couldn’t parse what Scott was trying to say here. Like, is he trying to say he was in the wrong or Shia was? It takes two rage-holes to Rumba. But I’m going to guess that Scott thinks Shia was the one creating a “shitty work environment” given he previously said in 2016 that his #1 pet peeve is “complainers, whiny little fucking brats.” He didn’t name names, but he did brag about dressing down a “spoiled brat” “younger actor” (so not Shia, they are the same age) by channeling his dad and screaming at them that they weren’t working hard enough. So there’s no way Clint’s boy has learned humility and introspection in 4 short years of trying to make Scott Eastwood happen. But he has learned other skills. Scott says he may give up on Hollywood since his acting career and nascent producing career haven’t exactly panned out for him.

Eastwood has also begun gaining producing credits. Taking a page from his dad’s playbook, he thought that more skin in the game would lead to his no longer being an acting cog.

But with forgettable titles like 2014’s “Dawn Patrol,” 2017’s “Walk of Fame” and last year’s “Dangerous,” starring Mel Gibson, Eastwood admitted the experience has been “heartbreaking.”

At the end of our Zoom chat, Eastwood gave a seemingly very honest answer when asked whether he’s starting to feel burned out from the years of playing the Hollywood game.

“I think so,” he said. “I have other endeavors that I’m interested in outside of the film business. I find a lot of creativity in real estate. Buying and improving homes and bringing a creative vision to a home that no one really can think of and wants to do. That’s always made me happy.”

Oh yes, Scott’s real estate career! That’s what led him to sneak around downtown Del Mar, California to steal signs protesting a proposed new luxury oceanfront resort only to get busted red-handed and run off while getting heckled by a soccer mom in yoga pants. But fear not, if real estate doesn’t work out for him, he can always fall back on his DJ skills, which he slyly used cross-promote Ranch Water, the premium tequila seltzer product he’s invested in!

To answer Scott’s question, I’m thinking reclaimed wood NFTs? But he’s probably too old-fashioned for that.
