Brad Pitt Is Suing Angelina Jolie Over The Sale Of Her Shares Of Château Miraval

Oooh, a rich people vineyard sale fight! You don’t see one of those every day. And this one is especially juicy (just like those wine grapes) because it comes with a side of sneaky shady sale accusations. One of the main points of contention in Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s acrimonious divorce has been their joint ownership of Château Miraval, the French estate that makes rosé and olive oil. Angelina was entitled to sell her shares, which were split 50-50 in 2013 between herself and Brad. Brad didn’t like that. He claimed that it was 60-40 when they got together and that’s how it should be divided for sale. A judge didn’t agree, and Angelina was given the a-ok to sell her 50% stake. Now Brad is trying to argue that he doesn’t agree with who she sold the shares to, and that the sale should be reversed immediately. And he’s decided to make all this known with a lawsuit that was recently filed against his ex-wife and former partner in vineyard ownership.

Brad was pissed about this sale from the start, so it shouldn’t be a surprise that he was able to find another way to come for Angelina even after it was done. When Brad switched the ownership division from 60-40 to 50-50, Angelina paid a a single Euro for her new shares. Then Angelina went on to sell those shares for a ton of cash, increasing her profit margins by a whole hell of a lot. Seeing Angelina make some quick cash had Brad extremely pissed off. Brad might actually have a bit more in common with Maleficent than Angie does, because a scorned Brad has clearly been pacing the floors and cooking up some piping hot revenge for that sale. According to Brad’s lawsuit, Angelina sold her shares to a – dramatic gasp – Russian oligarch! via TMZ:

Last July Angelina went to court and told the judge she had reached an agreement to sell her interest to an unnamed person. Pitt says in September he agreed to allow Angelina to pursue the sale but made it clear … he was not consenting to the sale, but rather would give thumbs up or down to the proposed buyer.

Brad says in October he was shocked to learn a company called Tenute del Mondo – a subsidiary of Stoli Group (the vodka co.) – controlled by Russian oligarch, Yuri Shefler, bought her interest in the winey.

The lawsuit accuses Angelina of allegedly hiding the details of the sale from Brad, and not seeking Brad’s approval for the sale. But, it’s not just the principle of the thing that has Brad mad. Brad really doesn’t like his new business partner and has accused Yuri of wreaking “havoc on his ability to run the winery.

But rather than blame his bad time at work on Yuri Shefler, Brad is pointing his finger directly at Angelina. This is YOUR fault, you greedy scheming vineyard ownership-ditching snake!

A source close to BP tells us, “Unfortunately, this is another example of the same person disregarding her legal and ethical obligations. In doing so, she has violated the rights of the only person who poured money and sweat equity into the success of the business by purporting to sell both the business and family home to a third-party competitor. She is seeking a return on an investment she did not make and profits she did not earn.”

According to the lawsuit, Brad wants a judge to completely undo the deal, and he wants damages for his troubles. He also claims in his lawsuit that he, and he alone, is responsible for the success of Château Miraval and that Angelina was merely someone who wrote a check to cover 40% of the purchase price. Brad claims he sunk a ton of time, money, and effort into the Château, so I guess that means he gets more of a say over who buys out Angelina’s shares.

This isn’t even the first lawsuit Brad has filed in regards to Angelina’s winery shares. Last September, Brad sued Angelina, accusing her of trying to sneakily profit from those extra 10% of shares she received back in the day.

Obviously, Brad is the only one mad about this situation, because Angelina got what she wanted (aka cash in exchange for château shares she didn’t want anymore). And it sounds like Brad absolutely fucking hates working with his new partner, Yuri. But Brad doesn’t specifically state how Yuri has “wreaked havoc” on Brad’s ability to run his winery. Is he messing things up by scooping his unwashed hands into the wine every time he wants a drink? Or is it worse than that, like following Brad around and asking, “I love Angelina Jolie. What’s your favorite movie of hers? I like Tomb Raider, but I’m also a huge fan of Tomb Raider 2.” Because yeah, I could see how that would be grounds for a lawsuit.
