Coachella and Stagecoach are both back this year, and they are partying like it’s 2019, because there won’t be any kind of precautions against Coronavirus. No negative tests are required. No proof of vaccination is required. And no masks are required. CORONAVIRUS IS OVAH! And Vanessa Hudgens has a reason to live again!
Coachella is happening this year on the weekends of April 15 to the 17, and the 22 to the 24. Stagecoach will go down from April 29 to May 1. Both festivals will be held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, CA as always. Both festivals were canceled in 2020 and 2021. So this year I guess they decided to say “Fuck it,” and are opening the doors all the way up. This comes after California dropped indoor mask mandates for vaccinated people this week.
The company Goldenvoice is responsible for both festivals and they announced on their websites and social media the protocol free-for-all. Coachella announced their health rules on their site and the page says there will be no mandates for vaccines or masks or anything. They also say that COVID is “extremely contagious” and can “lead to severe illness and death,” and that “there is no guarantee, express or implied, that those attending the festival will not be exposed to COVID-19.” So enjoy that! It says:
“By entering the festival, attendees voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19.”
Stagecoach has similar non-guidelines and announced their open doors on Twitter:
Festival Admission Update: As we prepare to spend an incredible weekend in the desert together we are announcing that there will be no vaccination, testing or masking requirements at Stagecoach 2022, in accordance with local guidelines. But Goldenvoice adds that things could change “in accordance with applicable public health conditions.” Also, artists and promoters can add their own precautions if they choose to, like limiting capacity and/or requiring vaccination proof for their show.
This year’s Coachella is expected to be headlined by Kanye West, Billie Eilish, and Harry Styles. That’s if Kanye doesn’t drop out over Billie Eilish not apologizing to Travis Scott (don’t do it, Billie!). Stagecoach is going to be headlined by Thomas Rhett, Carrie Underwood, and Luke Combs. Carrie Underwood has made it known that she’s not a fan of masks so she’s definitely letting out a victory yodel over this. But I have a feeling that IF Kanye takes the stage, some people will put on their masks, just not over their mouths. They’re going to put them over their ears when Kanye spends his entire set giving several stalker monologues while trying to win Kim Kardashian back again.
